No no no. I know what you're thinking... "Grr Mero made another gay ass topic about his gay ass Mac and the gay ass operating system it runs... Sarcasm ". Nothing like that...

Instead...

Yahoo or Google?

What do you prefer to use and why?

I like Yahoo personally. Its homepage layout is just much better than Google.

Its search features are better. And have you noticed how Google copied from Yahoo? Yahoo Mail - Gmail? Yahoo Instant Messenger - Gtalk?

Anywho, what do you prefer and why?

Google. It's quick, clean, and you can google hack with it (not actually "account hacking" or anything like that). Also very customizable, and doesn't have 5000 fucking ads and viruses like Yahoo.

Back when I was on dialup a few years ago I was all for yahoo and yahoo messenger. But then I just stopped using yahoo messenger which drifted me away from using yahoo search.

I personally prefer google search because google is much more simple than yahoo. You goto google to do a search for something and thats what you get, while this is the same for yahoo you're not distracted by the 100 clickable links that are on the main page.

I think most people use google because its out there. Its always being mentioned somewhere in a conversation. For example, when someone posts a problem on here that could easily be solved by a search on the internet what do most of us say?

Google or Yahoo?

Thats my 2 cents worth.

I just prefer Google for the simplicity, I don't like seeing 19 million things when I want to just simply search for something.

As for you thinking that Google copied yahoo, I think you're a bit mistaken.. There are many email services, Google just offers its own. It seems like you're implying that Yahoo was the first or biggest provider of email, so since Google offers an email service, they must be copying Yahoo. The same thing goes with instant messaging.

Google, again for the simplicity and power.

Plus I don't like Yahoo, mostly because of the Chinese journalist issue. (Yet I have a flickr account, go figure)

Google is simple, Just a logo, A search bar, and a button.

Gmail is also simple and nice, and It's spam filter is great.

Never really used Yahoo, But I prefer google.

Presence is a curious thing, if you think you need to prove it... you probably never had it in the first place.

If you like Yahoo's layout better, iGoogle can fix that. Very Happy

Google's expansion isn't just "copying" Yahoo. They're expanding like any corporation would. Plus, Google's not just taking on Yahoo, they're taking on Microsoft with online office programs.

It took me a little bit to learn of and use Google, but since I have, I ALWAYS instinctively type "www.google.com" into my address bar when I want to perform an Internet search.

Not to mention, as others have said, Google's search engine is the most powerful. That, right there, makes it more efficient and logical to use.

Google because its just so clean and simple. Yahoo is always cluttered with 500 different links to all sorts of unrelated crap I could care less about.

iGoogle is indeed massive awesome, but all the javascript sometimes slows down firefox while it loads. Same with GMail.
That said, it's my homepage everywhere and all my e-mail addresses redirect to GMail in one way or another. Very Happy

Yahoo is too full of things I'm not bothered about, like "Advertise with us!" and so on.

Tell me where else you're going to get 5 GB of free email with no ads tacked onto the bottom of your email, and a ridiculously good spam filter.

Google.com: simple, clean, works well. Why use anything else. I don't need layouts and crap on my search pages. If I want a search, that's all I want. If I want news, msnbc, cnn, etc. Weather is for weather.com, the end.

2 years ago if you told me to use Google I would start in on my lecture about how Google just ripped everything off Yahoo and have point after point about how Yahoo was better but then over time I noticed I could find what I wanted better, faster and with less "other" results when I would use Google.

YIM is still my #1 messenger but they are starting to go the AIM route and are putting ads on the contact list....Trillian is ok but their transfer protocols seem to never work (With anything other than Trillian to Trillian) and I transfer a hell of a lot of files everyday.

And Yahoo still has its uses, I prefer Yahoo Movies over the Google Movies page and with a combo of the Reviews on Yahoo and Fandango I determine my movie selection.

My Homepage is Crimson's Heart..Erm I mean Google.
