Recording anything that is copyrighted using your own tools for personal use if perfectly legal. Get your facts straight first.

You can use something like windows movie maker and cut out the ad's?

What if he is trying to distribute it? I know its legal to use it personally (though some politician is trying to make it illegal) if he is making it available to other people to download, then its illegal.

Can just assume that he's doing it for personal use and tell him. If he's doing it illegally, then it wouldn't be renegadeforums' fault, and he'd be fined or something...

Pinnacle studio 11 will do what you want, you can either buy it for 59.99 or just download it like everyone else here would from your friendly neighborhood torrent site.

Vegas Video has 720p rendering options. <3

Presence is a curious thing, if you think you need to prove it... you probably never had it in the first place.

Why the fuck do we care if it's legal? If he wants to distribute porn recoded from TV then it shouldn't be your business. Just answer the dam question.

Yes, that is illegal. Selling it on or hosting it on his server for free is illegal anywhere.

Is the data that you've recorded raw data? Has it been encoded into a codec like XviD?

To save 'gigs' from taking out a few mins of ads would have to be from either a HD source or raw data.

No, Windows Movie Maker blows when it comes to real life films, The quality will blow ass.

Quack, You have 2 options, Use Vegas video and render at 720p (HDTV Quality)

Or leave the adds in and use XviD to encode it and keep quality.

Whatever you do, Don't use WMM.

Didn't he say he was putting it on his ZUNE? I hardly think you're going to notice the difference between 720p rendering and what WMM produces there. Besides, every movie I've ever made with WMM has come out fine quality, you just need to select the right format.
