You can't honestly truthfully say that nothing works because everything i do on a pc i've been doing on this Mac since i got it.

Can those who fight against the statement that "it just works" say that they got their windows pc running as soon as they opened the box within 10 minutes? Because i did with my Mac.

If this new version of parallels does everything i want it to i probably won't have any other reason to go 'back' to a self made windows PC, although technically i will still be using windows. Yes most if not all the programs i use don't work for the mac without cracking the app or emulating another os, but there is so much more you can do with the mac that you can't with windows. iAlertU which is a comic security program won't work on windows, mainly because it won't know how to do the things the app asks for but mostly because it doesn't have a remote to lock it with (youtube iAlertU for details). I have something called VirtueDesktop which lets me have several instances of the same desktop for added space (like Leopard's "Spaces" but for Tiger). I use this so i can have fast os switching so i have the beauty of both.

I don't see why people dislike them so much.

(To the moderating team: If this gets out of hand too much or too off topic please close this thread. Thank you.)

Dude, that is BULLSHIT. I know VERY well how to build my own and use my own Windows PC. My work bought me a Mac and I, being a sane and reasonable person, decided to give it a try and I ended up REALLY LIKING IT A LOT. Plus, I am NOT a fucking leftie. I am most certainly NOT NOT NOT a tree hugging liberal, THANKYOUVERYMUCH.

And, I'm sorry if you don't like it, but it does "just work", most of the time. I did experience a hard drive problem once but I was able to recover my files from it and get up and running on a replacement, and yeah, my MacBook Pro gets as hot as Hades because it's one of the earlier model. Oh, and I have two Airport Expresses in my house which I use to stream music from iTunes (on one of 3 computers in the house) to two stereo systems (one in my game room, one in my living room)... and while most days it works just fine, yeah, sometimes I have to unplug/replug the unit in to get it on my wireless network correctly. I certainly get the occasional Firefox crash on Windows AND Mac... oh, and we have a cool Dell color laser printer here at home that I can't print to with my Mac for some reason.

But instead of being an overeager fangirl and treating the different OSes like a religion like pretty much all of you in this thread are, I USE both OSes every single day, for hours, for the tasks which they are best suited. I formed my opinions on the two systems myself without reading what someone else has to say and blindly agreeing with him like a monkey.

So, unless you have actually used a Mac for more than a week, and used the OSX operating system, then you are out of your element and you don't know what the fuck you're talking about. Period.

I'm the bawss.

Well said Crimson, well said.

I too use both operating systems, i just happen to use them on the MacBook Pro. Dual booting wasn't developed by Microsoft, it's a part of the BIOS on your motherboard which detects hard drive partitions and if those have startup files on them. If so it lists the name of the operating system these files are a part of and goes from there. Bootcamp was developed because all of the systems made by Apple had their primary hard drive fully partitioned to its file system. Bootcamp shrunk this to separate partitions easily and whilst the operating system was still running. This made space to install windows onto (which it done aswell).

I am the system administrator of 28 macs consisting of 8 eMacs and 20 iMacs in school and it's been pretty easy to use and understand.

The college i go to just got their Mac network setup consisting of 12 Intel iMacs, an xSan, an xServe and two xRAID's (alongside 20 windows PC's) which i am currently administrating and it's really easier to use than any of the windows equivalents. This whilst being a student there is great experience for me, and i can take this into my career as another thing i can do.

If you want to get a career in computing, of any kind, it's best to know your way around their operating systems, and since i'm going to media, everyone uses Mac's (since that's what they're good at) and i'll already have a head start with the operating system they use.

But yeah, don't talk about things you don't know about (in a nice way).

so much more you can do with mac that you can't do with windows?

there are WAY more programs that run on windows than mac so I don't know what the hell your argument is based on.

I got my PC 4 years ago with XP, this year I upgraded to Vista. It kicks ass. Best OS ever! Mac can't touch it. It's everything XP was plus everything Mac is, making it SUPERIOR!

But, truthfully, both OS work great. It's only idiots who say "MAC>WINDOWS" or "WINDOWS>MAC" (but I'd just like to put this out there: there's usually more people saying "MAC>WINDOWS" than people saying "WINDOWS>MAC" so mac users are idiots, ha!). Windows has the advantage of being more widely used, but Mac should be catching up with their crazy advertising schemes and ipod and all that

Sounds like school. :-s

Edit - I'm personally of the opinion that they should all be shot if they're not likely to help society, we've enough people around.
