Can't install renegade on Vista Ultimate [message #256780]

i need your help.

whenever i try to install renegade after i input my CD key and try to choose an install directory i get this syntax error message and i cannot proceed any further in the installation process.

index.php?t=getfile&id=3279&private=0

i could copy and paste the install folder from the CD but then i cant update as the updater cant find the install directory cus i just copied and pasted the game.

i should have just stayed with XP but i have to reformat every month to restart the evaluation period so i got Vista ultimate.

please i need help from any other Vista users who may have had the same problem.

Did Windows ask you for admin access when starting setup?
If not, right-click on the setup file on your Renegade CD and choose "Run as aministrator".

Try creating a Westwood folder in your start menu before installing renegade...

It worked fine for me just using all the default settings... maybe install all the Vista updates? Might be a compatibility fix which lets it work.

Also, try running the installer in XP SP2 mode...

hi.i fixed it, well kinda.

I downgraded back to windows XP then installed and patched ren on a seperate partition then upgraded back to vista. took a while but it was worth it to play ren agen Satisfied

You do know that Vista supports dual boot, as in you can have both XP and Vista installed at the same time and choose which one to use, right?

i dont have an XP cd key, and i cant be bothered trying to find the activation crack for it again, so theres no point in me doing that.
