It was a couple of years later that I found out the translation of the exchange between Gowron and Martok (It was in Klingon, and not subtitled) right before they destroyed DS9's shield generator.

Martok: They fight like Klingons!
Gowron: Then they shall die like Klingons!
Martok: (to crew weapons officer) Target their primary shield generator!

Basically the heavily armed space station was owning the hell out of their fleet, so they decided to concentrate fire on and destroy their shield generator so they could beam aboard and fight the humans hand-to-hand (where the Klingons would have the advantage).

Yeah, I figured he was saying "target the shield generators" when the ships moved to attack them, but I thought Gowron was insulting Worf (as many were fond of doing in The Next Generation) with that Klingon remark.

I've been buying the Deep Space 9 season collections, so far I've got 1 and 2, 3 is on the way right now. I didn't get the chance to see the entire series, so watching it sequentially is a pretty interesting experience. I'll try Voyager next (I've seen random episodes of it, and I haven't even seen the first episode), then possibly get the box set of all TNG seasons, then work on Enterprise after that.

As mainly a Voyager fan (it was really the only one I watched regularly as new episodes came out), I will say that you may find it less appealing as the series goes on. But I will also say that as trite and unoriginal as you might find the later episodes (though I do not) they also provide a good amount of character and story development.

I have a friend who's all about TNG that I'm trying to get started on Voyager, so I hope I can help with another person.

DS9 was pretty cheesy when it first started, but it got better and better as it went on. Way of the Warrior and the whole Dominon War timeframe was great.

Voyager starts a bit cheesy too, but gets better as it goes, with the best being the final season as well.

I have pretty much the same opinion of Enterprise. I was sad to hear that it got cancelled.

Season 2 was what killed Enterprise. It had a great deal of potential, but that season just seemed to drag on, and I think most people lost interest because of that.
