i would like to know from u guys if xwis is doing a good job for renegade

im going post athor big community's who r playing this game
ill be posting this later on xwis.

i think XWIS sux they cant even keep thge ranking system up & takes them like a week to put the game server back up if it crashes.

Yes and no.

Yes:

The server is up most of the time
Connect times are quick, and it's a darn sight better than GameSpy/TASE
They have given BHS (partial) access to their system

No:

The ladder is broken, which doesn't bother me but it shows the lack of commitment
People are still having issues with serials, which is not encouraging
I feel like Renegade is the adopted part of the community that Strike Team could do without (i.e. they didn't post here, we had to find out the situation ourselves)
They don't play Renegade, so they have no personal interest in being able to play

It's not my place to say they aren't doing their job right, I would hope EA would do that if XWIS aren't meeting their obligations. If you'd asked me 3 days ago, I'd have said yes, but for the moment I'm leaning more towards no.

Silent Kane and I are working on phase 2 of a ladder system for Renegade that will be hooked into XWIS and act just like the old ladder. I will make a more official announcement of this once I have seen exactly where he is and what we get done over the weekend.

I think the renegade community feels abandoned by XWIS, they don't seem to care about us or the game, I never see anything from them - I think 99% of the community would be happier having BHS run things as they have proven repeatedly that they care and want to do everything in their power to keep renegade alive.

XWIS suck.

The strike team didnt wanted to take over wol, EA abandoned it if im not mistaken.

Until they fix the numerous serial issues they seem to have with Renegade I'm not going to be happy with it. Also, Renegade seems to take a backseat to the other games rather a lot.

Perhaps you should go to the APB forums and ask there, you'll likely end up with a thread so full of hate anyone who reads it will die in seven days.

Xwis has done a pretty good job at keeping the game up and running so far. If you post just after an offtime, then you basically are looking for people saying they suck. Well, I don't think they suck but I don't think everything goes 100 % well neather.

When WOL had an offtime back in the days, it would have taken MUCH longer before it was back. There was no communication at all: it worked or it didn't and when it didn't, it didn't - period.

Now I see people getting banned from xwis for doing really bad stuff, never seen that on WOL (at least not the last years, it prolly did happen at the start). That's thanks to the agreement with BHS, ok but it does exist Wink

.

I think Xwis has a contract with EA which probably states that they have to keep Xwis as an exact copy of WOL. They probably don't have access to the update serevrs neather. Why? Simply because EA wants to prevent the game to be altered in a forced way.

There are always people who will not like changes made. For exemple: if BHS managed to get an official patch which everyone would have to download and they fixed walljump in it, you'd get a shitload of people coming here demanding to get walljump back, I'm sure of that.

Do you really think BHS could do much more than they do now if they got the WOL-deal? I think that their contract with EA wouldn't allow that. On top of that, it would probably mean even more delay on Renguard and Core patches, the "core business" of BHS at this moment.

The update servers are separate. XWIS does not have the ability to push patches, only EA does.

The difference is neither EA nor XWIS cared about Renegade, while BHS does. As long as the RA2 servers are working XWIS/StrikeTeam seems to be happy, and as long as EA isn't spending any money they're happy too.

The WOL ladder worked before XWIS took over is subject to ones opinion of the word worked. I can say it was shotty at best.

Its absolutly crap.

If you look at http://strike-team.net forums, It states that they think Renegade is shit.

They care more about a few hundred RTS players than 1000 FPS/Tank players lol.

If anything, I want a new engien, NOT xwis.

If xwis doesnt like Renegade and dont want to support it, Why not give it to someone else lol.

aswell for the ladder, It would be cool if it still worked.

That would be the average online at any one time - I do not think it is unreasonable to think that the number of people who play renegade regularly is somewhere between five and ten thousand.

I was in a game shop today, first decade is no. 2 in the game chart so we will still be picking up players everyday (as will over C&C games)
