I come on as TankCmdr6, and I find people using snipers in the game.
Of course, you don't want snipers used, except you have no moderators on most of the time. Next map goes to Under. Guess what? HTDavid comes in and kicks a few rule violators. As time goes on, he stops doing it, and starts a vote to kick me because I'm "annoying him" because I was telling him who was doing what so he could kick them.
I left the game. If this is how you moderate your server, I won't be visiting it again. This is why The Pits is the best server out there...

Thank you for the heads-up, ACK. I will make sure the owner of the server knows about this.
HTDavid contacted me about someone pestering him repeatedly over rules issues. I had a hard time understanding why he was so reluctant to kick rulebreakers--I don't want any HT member to start ignoring the rules and giving our server a bad name. Rest assured that when I am playing on the server, I will go out of my way (e.g., drive my buggy into a crowd of tanks) to identify a cheater and kick him out.
HTDavid aside, I could see a !votekick option being useful for non-mods. There are times where we'd like the server to be open but we aren't able to monitor it ourselves--I'll pass that along to the server owner, too.
A note to all: feel free to contact me (private messages here are fine) if you have any similar stories to report about the Hitech2k server.

here is the story guys
I just join the Hitech server (rule, no b2b,sniper,extra,etc)like half a game
okay, my team lost cause when I joined the game it have only 3-4 mins left
when ever I just joined the game usually take me about a min. to kick all the rule breaker, okay, at last all the rule breakers are gone after and everyone are happy....except for tankcmdr6, the next map is under.mix
we start playing very peacefully, I click F2 and said"to all, unless it's an important issue, don't private message me every 5 seconds asking me to kick who, I just want to play a peaceful game and not here to watch ya'll play as I being a gov.", about 30 seconds later, tankcmdr6 told me there is a sniper(that's important) and I kicked that person for him....later someone was using an extra(told by tankcmdr6 again)so I go and kicked him also, I post that same message again saying I want a peaceful game , don't bug me now....guess what???tankcmdr6 ask me to kick another person again...(while I'm battling in the middle of the field) and he said I'm not doing anything(what am I suppose to do? let others kill me while trying to type the kill command?), and later I return to the base and refill my raveshew, guess what???it's tankcmdr6 again....kick this person...he's using extra...I click on J to make sure....he's a raveshew with the extra skin, I told tankcmdr6 again...dude I don't care if they are not using an extra, as long as they are not that important I'm not planning to kick everyone out of the server for fun", his reply was something like"I'm just trying to help you out with the server rule, what's the point of having a rule if you can't keep it" my answer was"I didn't make the rule, but I like the rule,and I'm going to make everyone to follow it when I'm online, if it's important I will kick this person....otherwise I'm not planning to kick"
than later he sended me like 20 messages non-stop...I reached my limit of having him around me....I cast a admin message and ask "vote, do you think I should kick the person who won't stop bugging me?" everyone vote yes, he he got piss off and said..."if this is how you mod the server I don't think I wants to play in here anymore" and he left, I wasn't really going to kick him(unless he bugs me again, than yes)....I go around and told almost every HT about this story how tankcmdr6 won't stop bugging me, I even told pft1086 even though he's not a HT....but this really really piss me off how he just say I'm lay-z

Would it help other players to post a clearer rule, such as "Extra skins are OK, extra characters are not?" I personally don't mind a Raveshaw with a different skin, but acolytes, sedans and so on are no-nos. I can see, though, why ACK might have been frustrated without this being clarified...

and PS. I welcome you back to hitech server.....after talking to dana for about 2 hours on this issue you propbably have problem knowing what we mean by no extra, I would like to talk about this topic with you like man to man and not on a forum......if you can read this I usually be online in hitech server around 8PM est. and I hope to see you again in the server, and not being pissed off at each other cause of such little issue

Fuck's sake, David, I'm not a fucking n00b.
I know the difference between the alternate skins of $1,000 characters and the extras units. I worked with Westwood, do you not realize this??
I told you, "HTDavid... such and such is using an extras *Templar*"
Last time I checked, the Templar was in the extras menu code.

You're making up excuses. If you don't want to moderate the server, then tell the HT clan to take away your moderation powers.
I moderate on The Pits server, and I frequently have to lose my expensive character or tank just to see who's doing something wrong. I don't go "But I want to play the game!" I do what needs to be done, remove the player, and get back to playing the game.
It's *your responsbility* to be the caretaker for the server while no other HT members are around. If you feel you cannot handle this... Stop being a moderator.
I don't care if you were fighting or not. You have a job to do, you're expected to do it, either do it or don't bother moderating.
Never once did I say that the alternate skin for Raveshaw was against your rules. I was telling you about the Nod Tiberium unit extras.

Believe me, I agree with you guys. I can't change what happened yesterday, but I will certainly do my best to clear the air and make sure it doesn't play out that way again. A few HT members and I just need to check the records first...as soon as I have an answer, I'll be sure to share it.

I try to be cool about this issue and you are really making a big deal out of this. you ask me to kick at least 5 different people, in just half a game, don't you think this is a little too much from you already? and you didn't tell me no "who's a SPECIAL extra" or what so ever....you just told me this person is an extra, I click J to check??the name "raveshew" shows up for this person....I know an extra when I see one, and believe me....I WILL kick anyone who disobeying the rule of our server, (but I really do not think that a raveshew with the special skin should count as a raveshew), like many of ya'll said I'm a mod...which is pretty much a officer in the real world. but sometime you just have to wait for the right time to ask me, and not message me 50 times within 30 seconds and say I'm not answering your message....I don't usually swear on anything....but this time I'm going to....I swear that person you told me who was using an extra was a raveshew when I click J, ain't no lie, I don't believe you are a n00b and all, and I do agree with what you told me how there is extra in the server....that's why I kicked all of them, after those extra was gone I start playing for real, and you won't stop messageing me in the game, proof can be found on htsolid log. and I will post it up here if he ever send it to me. I'm online to play, I don't want to make no enemy with anyone, what I really want to make online are friends..if you are still piss off at me cause I did the little admin message about the kick thing.... I'm sorry, I shouldn't have done it just because you message me alot....and yes, I really really want to talk to you in person online again(don't take that too hard just because I did the message, take it as a mean joke or something if that would makes you feel better), if I did anything wrong just tell me again, I'll correct myself

at last....home from my awful work and some real free time to solve this issue again
I was doing what I need to do...like how you started the topic, I kicked a few rule breaker, but I have a feeling that you don't believe me that the person you told me who was an extra was a raveshew.....I'm telling the truth~~~anyway, we can talk over this topic online sometime, I won't treat you like shit again...promise...or else you can tell anyone in the HT leader to ban me from the server~

Well well well, If you don't Like a server, don't play in it... Though if you are getting pissed off, and want to stay cause' its a good game... Do what ACK did, and Report it 
Oh yea, And I agree Fud > All Servers
No lag for me, and The FUD Members know how to play, so you can always count on good teamwrok

I enjoy the HT server, particularly the rules, but just last night I finally lost my rag with the consistent abuse/ingoring of the no sniping rule. I have no qualms and will name the two offenders : "jb3880" and "jet5d". These 2 simply would not stop using Havoc/Deadeye respectively. It made a difference to the game too.
In order to ferret out and confirm these two, I broke another rule (sorry but at least I didn't do it for the win...that's another problem!) and switched teams to use the "J" key. Numerous F2 messages were ignored, and "jet5d" even tried to blur the issue claiming someone on the opposition was sniping - which was just not true.
It's not a question of people not knowing the rules, it's plain old ignorance. I fully appreciate that it's well-nigh impossible to have 24/7 human moderation, but surely you can use [BR?] to auto kick players that purchase a sniping character.
True, if people don't like the abuse they can play elsewhere, but more to the point players should respect the rules of the servers they use. Peer pressure can work on reasonable minds, esp. when an honest mistake is made or a rule is forgotten, but blatant abuse/disregard plain sucks for the rest of the players.
I hope HT can make a good server better, and thanks again.
