I don't really know why I went to see this movie. I probably wanted to see how it sux, because the number of Good Movies that were made after a game is as low as EA support for most of their games. Yet I swill went to see it and it was a waste of the money that I could have saved for buying the game.
Basically, if you saw the movie Resident Evil 1 or Aliens, then you have seen almost the whole plot of the Doom movie, except that Aliens and Resident Evil had/have far more (and better) suspense, were far more entertaining and had/have much more and smarter zombies/aliens that were there to kill the actors, not just to entertain us(which for the most part is their sole purpose in the Doom movie, but they still almost completely fail to do that; They are there pretty much to make you laugh because of the way they get killed)

Simple and short description of the movie: There are 3 parts.
1. First part(about an hour), almost nothing interesting happens except in the beginning where some people get killed, behind the scenes.
2. Second part is where there starts to be some action, but it is not a very interesting action since the number of the monsters is quite low.
3. Third part(the first person view and after) Is there only to make the movie even more lame and to make it longer.

Conclusion
Acting: Quite good
Entertainment: The game is probably much more entertaining(I have not played Doom 3 yet)
Special Effects: Not very good, and only few

I don't know what the fuck you're talking about. I liked the movie quite a bit.

If you're offended by a lot of vulgar language, do not watch this movie at all costs. However, if you don't mind strong language, don't count this movie out just yet.

The beginning's cool. Sure, not a lot of action, but the plot is still building. I'm not going to call a movie bad because they're building the plot. I didn't pay $7.50 to see a movie where the whole plot of the story is played out in the first 30 minutes. There's a couple cool scenes in the beginning.

There isn't endless killing in this movie, so people looking for that will be greatly disappointed. However, there is some gore, and it was enough to satisfy me. The first person shooter was awesome. No, you really didn't feel like you were actually in the movie, but it was still a really cool view.

The ending is cool. Nothing spectacular, but I liked it.

If you're expecting to be scared shitless like you would be while playing Doom 3, you'll be greatly disappointed. DarkDemin and I were expecting the movie to be scary, but it was actually very tame. I saw a couple of younger kids sitting directly in front of us, and I was like, "they're going to regret seeing this movie" (because I figured it'd be a hell of a lot scarier), but it was tame enough for younger kids. That is... if you don't mind those kids being subjected to immense amount of swearing. Personally, I don't like extremely scary movies, but this movie was even fairly tame for me. It certainly wasn't what I expected.

Overall, it's a good movie. It all depends on what your tastes are.

I haven't seen it. I saw the trailer and teaser of course, it was hard for me to say. it did remind me of Resident Evil, but not much.

...
Special Effects: Almost none, just like in most low budget movies(ex. X-men 1)

You don't even know what you're talking about.

The Doom and Xmen movies are high budget compared to Resident Evil and Aliens, Doom and Xmen had double the budget of Resident evil and triple that of Aliens.

Aliens: $18 Million
Resident Evil: $30 Million

Xmen: $75 Million
Doom: $70 Million

Anything that has the rock in it sucks. He wasnt an actor to begin with for a reason. They did this movie just like EA does to games. They take the same look an feel and add new characters and weapons. Nothing original, it just running the same base.

I havent seen the movie, only trailers, however i noticed quite a bit of crap and i mean crap. In the doom games...he was alone. He didnt have a squad of people. No teams, no nothing. Him verses them. The aliens look nothing like the originals. Did i mention the rock was in it?

I have a over sence of those things though. I hate rap and the Gangsta mentality so much that if a movie even has a rapper on the screen for 2 seconds i wont go see it just to make sure i dont support him/her in any way. If its on TV and he can be seen in the background as an extra, Click its over.

Yes im aware that the rock is not a rapper. However his attitude twords life and other people is just as shitty. If you dont believe me watch that Conan episode where he came on. He was treating Conan like shit because he was nice enough to have him on the show.

Bah, rambling.

You know why he wasn't alone in the movie? Because at the start of the Doom game, number one, you're in an allied compound. The compound has been overrun with hell spawned demons. However, in Doom 3, the beginning, you're in an allied compound that doesn't seem to have anything wrong with it.(This is a Doom game, so that's a load of shit) Later on you meet ye olde Zombies & Imps back from Doom 1 & 2. The first Zombies you see don't have guns, but I bet they still do a good amount of damage anyway. I don't know, I've never gotten hit by one.
Anyway, what I would imagine, is that the Doom movie is not about the Marine you play, it's instead about a group you apperantly find later on in the game, Bravo Team. Unfortunately, Bravo Team seems to have been... Eaten. Therefor, the only survivor is that one guy.

Then again, what happened at the very start of Doom 1, that you didn't know about, was that the Marine you play as apperantly did something that he wasn't supposed to. He was forced to stay at the door while the other Marines go in. Several hours later, he is forced to go in, because the entire squad is dead, including anyone who could pilot the transport. That's why you see all of those green armored corpses laying around everywhere.

Of course, this doesn't explain why the Marine that survives actually went in, but then again, it's the movies.

I liked the movie as a movie in itself, but was disappointed with the continuity of the story. All of the Doom GAMES are based off an alien invasion that came as a result of using the teleporter technology that the U.A.C. found on Mars. This movie didn't have that, and as a consequence, lost a lot of the continuity of the game. The "imps" didn't hurl fireballs, the "hell knights" didn't hurl plasma, and there wasn't even a Cyberdemon!

It was all right, but it really didn't do the name justice.

I have not seen it yet.

I heard they replaced the demons from hell with mutants created in some gene experiments. I understand that it might be too much to release a movie with so much satanistic features as the Doom game has, but I think there have been enough mutant movies out there already.

If satanic reference was the reason they didn't use it as a base for the movie, then we have definate proof that there are much to many fucktards in this world governing censorship and political correctness.

They do fight for a reason. The one guys wants to leave and the other guy won't let him, because he knows what will happen. Sorry to keep it vague, but I really don't want to give away too much for those who haven't seen it.

I loved the first person part, though you didn't feel like it was you in the action it was still original and awesome.

All in all I liked it, though I snuck into the theatre to watch it so I can't really say I got my money's worth. Tell Me

There are plenty of movies that contain Satanic references. I was surprised that they changed the main plot of the movie. I don't know why they did that other than the fact that it's Hollywood and they'll fuck up anything. But I can probably asure you that this has little to do with political correctness and/or censorship.

I dont really care about anything other than the following two things:

Is the BFG in it?
Is a chainsaw used in it?

It isnt out in England yet.....and If you had read the story at the begining of the Doom game (first one) you would have read that he DID have a squad in the game...but he was told to stay behind....all he hears over the radio is screaming and what sounds like bones crunching...and that is when he goes in alone...against his orders....

Where do you think all the demony type marines in the first game come from....

I've only ever played the first game...and I have to say, mutants would go down alot better in America than Satanic Hell Demons from an alternate dimension coming through what I understood to be an event horizon style teleportation gate.....
The USA is such a God fearing country that doing something like that would not have gone down well with the masses...
In Britain we'd love it...but we can/are pretty sick minded people, and we have a warped sense of humour!

Yes to the Chainsaw, high possibility to the BFG. I saw a large gun in a small chamber that looked a bit like the BFG in a trailer, so I don't know.

oh to comment on my feelings as the Rock as an actor...

I thought he was a cheesy actor in the Mummy Returns and the Scorpion King...but he was just meant to look pretty in those films and I think he would have won the oscar for best Pretty dumb male performance (had there been such a catagory)
I liked him in The Lowdown (is that it's name? It was called Welcome to the Jungle in England) and I loved him in Walking Tall, I thought he was very good there.

However, When he removes the name The Rock as his stage name, and just calls himself Dwane Johnson (but I can see why he is abit aprehensive to do that!) maybe he will be taken seriously
