As far as I know, our Ontario radio stations have to adhere to a provincial law that says what can or can't be broadcast.

As for the banning of FOX NEWS nationwide (as far as I know; I know it's banned here in Ontario), I'm near positive that is nothing short of a federal quam to stop the conservatives from getting ideas.

But they have a way of messing up on their own without the federal government's help. It's the nature of the beast-- or whiner, or whatever you want to call it.

Heh, gotta love that the Charter of Rights and freedoms says the following:

If they are "violating the freedom of press/speech/whatever", it would be because of this clause.

Oh, we can watch it if we want to. We just need to hook up to a satellite and "import" the program. The law merely states that it isn't to be aired on Canadian based stations.

And from what I've seen of FOX news prior to it being banned, it wasn't much of anything but fat people having contests to lose the most weight in various ways paid for by the station itself. It was clearly a political move, and since I have next to no respect for either polar side, it doesn't bother or affect me at all.

Besides, I feel much safer in a country were my neighbours don't have the "right" to sling guns around on a whim.

For about a week after 9/11 they wouldn't play anything vaguely plane-related on UK radio, or Stereophonics' "Have A Nice Day".

Although that last one really isn't something to complain about.
