They need to come up with a new word that isn't marriage and people won't care.
They also need to get two things straight. The government needs to run the civil union part. If two people want a civil union the government shouldn't be able to stop them. But a marriage is with the church. If they church won't do it, thats too bad. Nothing they can do about it.

only thing is, up here you can lose your job be kicked out of your apartment, or be censured for speaking out against gay marriage (even if you are a Bishop of the Catholic Church teaching the church's position). The aformentioned things have all happened. A BC teacher submitted a letter to a paper outlining why he disagreed with gay marriage and he lost his teaching job. He lost his job for voicing a private opinion (his guaranteed right under the charter) as a private citizen. Another Man put up a sign that said "marriage = 1 man + 1 woman" from his balcony and was evicted from his condo. And Archbishop Henry spoke out about Gay marriage, which the catholic church is against, and he was brought before a 'human rights' tribunal and censured.
People wouldn't have a problem with gay marriage up here if it weren't for the secularist, leftist-yet-fascist thought police we have up here.
Down with the Liberal Thieves in Ottawa!
