While you may view CERTAIN ads, you imply that you ignore most ads. If you block those annoying advertisers that you don't look at, you'll only be left with those that you DO look at. I don't see how that's a bad thing. Also, on a lot of advertisements, you don't get paid per click, you get paid on a monthly (or yearly) basis. It doesn't affect the site's income if they're paid continuously even if their viewers don't click.

So you automatically assumed that I don't view advertisements... That's quite possibly one of the worst ways to attempt proving any point you were trying to make with that feeble intellect of yours. I will view advertisements that catch my attention. It all depends on what site I'm viewing and what is being advertised. If the website has advertisements related to novels, electronics, weapons, or generally anything interesting I'll probably end up viewing it to see if it's worth purchasing.

No, because while we can block ads, idiots like you cannot.

How am I an idiot for viewing advertisements? If anything you're the one who has no concept of what you're helping to further online. This "lets block advertisements" movement going on will just come around to bite you in the ass in a few years' time, perhaps even sooner. Then I can come back and say that idiots like you ruined most free websites for all of us, simply for your own selfish convenience.

So people will be left with no pay for websites ran by webmasters who care nothing for income on their site. The world just might end!

No. Seriously. No.

One reason I Firefox instead of Opera is because it's under a free license.

The second reason is the fact I don't have Windows anymore.

Crimson, if you don't like the website then don't view it. Blocking the advertisement from loading will stop that site from recieving income from the advertiser. I'm sure your tune would change if you needed to put advertisements up on n00bstories.com.

Ignoring them is different from stopping them from loading completely. Advertisers will not pay for something that many people are not even loading in their computer. If over 50% of the television audience found out a way to block commercials between shows, I'm fairly sure they'd drop television advertising as well. I am really surprised you have this point of view considering you believe you're conservative, yet now that you have to deal with a side-effect of a free market you want nothing to do with it.

Aircraftkiller, the Internet isn't television. Did you notice?

The keyword in what Aircraftkiller said about Crimson was IF. IF she did, but she doesn't currently seem to need them.

No. Seriously. No.

They're two different things, if he can relate it to something like the Internet, which wouldn't be TV, then I'll listen.

No. Seriously. No.

You know what? I don't personally block any ads. I was just making a case for people who do. I do, however, record all my shows on an older ReplayTV which has commercial skipping that I make constant use of.

I'm the bawss.

Very Happy!!

Linux > * Thumbs Up

Although I am not currently using it because my sound card is very unsupported in it. Once I get a better sound card than an SB Live! I'll start using it again.
