I'm only faulting those who appear to be more bothered about putting down each other than developing their own project.
Like I said before, never mind Reborn, yes Reborn sucks I know but how good is Renalert? I would seriously like to know. I have tomorrow off so if you tell me how to get it you might well see me playing this thursday.
The same goes for anyone who would like me to try out Reborn too, I heard it's got a lot of bugs so I can account for that. By the way no-one has ever released a buggy, not-quite-done version of a program ever, have they? :rolleyes:
Oh, and don't question my intelligence, I don't question anyone else's. At least you managed to spell my name (no fingers whatsoever being pointed before anyone starts on that one...

- Reborn Mod (that we are actually working on) isn't out yet.
- You can find a crappy beta with major bugs, but I am not involved in that one and so I won't support it.
- I hope to release this during the summer anyway, I can't do promises. I have exams to pass but University is almost finished. So for sure: In 2005, we will release Reborn.

I can bash the fuck out of Reborn and work on my project at the same time. If, in the highly unlikely chance, you ever looked at our website you'd notice everything we're getting done.

My point is what's the point? Why not spend that energy on getting your own product finished and then bash the fuck out of everything else safe in the smug knowledge that when some smart arse like me asks what you're doing that's so wonderful you can send them a cd with a "play our great game, it exists, unlike Reborn"

What's your fantastic game that blows reborn out of the water then? Has it been made yet?
Just comes across to me like a few 5 year olds arguing about who's dad could win in a fight, when they're orphans... It just irritates me seeing all these people who mouth off and have nothing to back it up. Just like all these so-called Chavs (scumbags who need shooting to make the world pretty much crime free in my opinion) who are really hard until you approach them, on your own, to beat up 8 of them. The only difference between that and what Aircraftkiller (to name but one person btw) is that he's actually forming an argument back and while I have respect for that, there is still nothing yet to back up the mouth.
But if you really insist on saying reborn sucks, we all know, don't.

I don't have to have a game to know what does and dosen't suck. Reborn sucks, and that's that.

Have you even seen their work? It's been a year since their last release, and even that one was broken, buggy, and downright ugly. They didn't even finish the damn installer, you had to create your own folder and unzip two seperate zip files into it. They promised (Read that again, promised) that the first release would not be in beta and it would be a bug free release. Guess what, it wasn't. It sucked and they fooled a lot of people into thinking it wouldn't suck
It's been nearly a half a year now since the "new team" said they were going to release a new version of Reborn. Well... here we are, a half a year later and still no release. They are still "working" on the release, but yet, there is not even a single sign of it be let out anytime soon.
Their team consists of nothing but procrastinators and pathological liars. They promise all kinds of things but never deliver.
Reborn sucks.

You are now requred to IGNORE the shortcuts installed by the non-working installer (Which i will now refer to as Crap Media Player, or CMP for short.) and instead explore to your installed Reborn directory (C:\Program Files\Reborn is the default, for those who dont' know) and run "Game.Exe" manually.
OK. Let's analyze this... On second thought no... it's not worth the aneurism.
4.) You are now greeted by the "Deezer Studios" intro.
Deezer Studios? Ok, let's just say that again. "Deezer Studios". What's the first thing that comes to mind when I say that? That's right, good ol' Deezire. I'm sure he LOVES being subliminally referenced to this piece of crap. (For reference sake, Deezire is THE MAN and deserves much homage for the mods he has created in the past.)
That and the mere FACT that this group tries to refer to itself as a sort of Dev Team is scary enough to make grown men cry.
5.) You are now FORCED to watch an equally poorly compressed rip from the ol' TS intro.
WHY? Was your CMP not good enough or something? No wait, that's because it SUCKS!
6.) At long last, the menu system. Now here's something that actually WORKS! If I click Multiplayer, I go to Multiplayer!
Yeah, and if I click "Westwood Online" i go to... WHAT THE HELL? I can't log in! Oh yeah, that's right, cuz it doesn't WORK! Ok, no worries. Let's try GameSpy... OH NUOS! NOW I'M SENT TO THE RENEGADE SECTION! Let's think of that for a sec. The Renegade section in GameSpy Arcade refers SPECIFICALLY to c:\westwood\renegade. NOT c:\program files\reborn. Shit outta luck there, my friend!
Oh! Wait, there's instructions! "How to play on Gamespy." COOL!
1. Download "The All-Seeing Eye" from http://www.udpsoft.com/eye2/index.html
2. Install "The All-Seeing Eye"
3. ASE will detect your Renegade and set your gamepath
4. Open ASE -> hit F2 -> click on "games" -> click on "Renegade"
5. Use the browse-button to search for the Game.exe of Reborn and press OK
Now just wait a fucking second. If i wanted to play on ASE, i would have looked for "How to play on ASE" Right? But once again, we're happily baited and switched into useing ASE (Which i personally hate, tyvm.). This kinda reminds me of Valve's Steam... though I can't imagine why...
OK, so I can't play on WOL, I can't play on GSA... and I'm sure as hell not installing ASE. So let's just humor "Deezer Studios" and play Practice Mode... just for laughs.
HOLY FARKING CRAP! I used to be a beta tester for Reborn Back in the day... and there are STILL many of the bugs left behind!
Bury yourself in Canyon... DIE. Big bug, if you ask me.
Reborn plays background music... sounds like... wait it IS... it's Crush from
Red Alert! Yeah, let's just kinda cross titles there...
Deployment is STILL a useless gesture in the game.
Fly high enough and you'll end up UNDERGROUND! It's not a bug, it's a feature! NEWTON BE DAMNED! "What goes up.... eventually comes around on the other side!" It's a whole new idea of physics!"
OK, now that Reborn's site is toast and a simple html site is remaining. Let's have a looksee at what one (I'm thinking Angel of Dawn... though I could be mistaken) of the Reborn team is saying.
"But today is the long promised day X."
Oooh... Day X... top secret there...
"If i am honest, i never imagined that Reborn will become a playable game... "
Reality check, it's NOT PLAYABLE! And if honesty is so important to you, then you shouldn't have promised a "Non-buggy" game that will support ALL game browsers.
"Sadly our installer has not been finished"
Which leaves us to the question of wtf happened to the rest of it...
If the game doesn't even install, then it shouldn't be released. Period.
"Reborn was in the beginning small and unimportant"
YES! And now we upgrade it to LARGE and unimportant! Hell, let's just add broken to the list. "Large, broken and unimportant." Yeah, that's about right...
People, this game was supposed to be IT. The one game (Besides RenAlert) that was to help me regain my faith in Renegade as a game and as an engine. Well... i guess it's up to Ack, Dante and the RenAlert crew, because Reborn has gained my vote of "Most likely to cause violent suicide."

Jzinsky, try finding out why we bash Reborn before you start showing how much of a newbie you are. I've been here since the beginning of these forums back in 2001, and have seen Reborn go from being somewhat good to sucking horrible... Yet dumbshits like you will come out of nowhere, with little information to substantiate your claims besides "WELL U CANT DO ANY BETTAR!!!" and defend something that is indefensible.

- I joined the mod in january 2004. It was like dead at this date. We really started the new version on april 2004. I never did those promises. 'Promises' you are talking about are from Reborn team of 2003. I never said any promises.
- Who is still on the team from 2003 and 2002? Kalle Bowo. What does he do? 2d art. He wasn't really involved in the bugs of the last reborn release.
- You are still talking like other above about something you don't know and haven't tried (new reborn under work, let's call it Reborn2005). Or you talk about RebornBETA2003...-> learn that nobody of the current team except Kalle Bowo (for icons and 2d arts) is involved in the release of 2003.
So you can't say you don't know now.

You bet I'd be downloading it and trying it right away. It may have had a chance, but it was blown the minute that said team publicly dehumanized one of the other modifications or acted in a similar piss-poor manner.

Since the Reborn team doing the mod now is different from the previous team they shouldn't be held responsible for whatever crap the OLD team came up with. Also, Renardin, I see no reason why you are retaliating against Reborn-bashing comments? If you know they are bashing the old team then you are none of it, I mean. Bashing is just an opinion after all. You can completely ignore it.
I have seen what ACK exposed re: Reborn's lies or whatever it is called. Yes, the pictures looked down right horrible. (I can do a better map than that I guess.) However, that was long time ago and why not forget about it and move on?
No, I could not care less about this childish APB vs Reborn quarrel. I'm rather impartial if I say so myself as I don't comment both mods often (since I haven't played both of them on my own PC) but I am just stating my comment since this is Hot Issues forum.
Now please... shut up and mod!

Alright, since the OLD Reborn sucked so much, Renardin, why not RENAME the new one? To, say; Reborn: Renegade Sun? Note, that i know its a horrible name, but people wouldnt be calling it just Reborn. That would mean, obviously, that if they said: "Reborn sucks" that they would be talking about Reborn ONE. As opposed to this one, which, actually, is #2. Just say you botched the first Reborn and began to remake it, albeit not completely from scratch. Its not to smart to keep making a game youve(makers) released, that is a piece of shit. You shouldnt even THINK of doing that.
As a matter of fact, you shouldnt have even named it Reborn if you did decide to continue making it. Just, as i said, rename it. Try this: Renegade: Sun Flare
Again, i know it aint a great name, its just for reference. DONT EVEN INCLUDE "Reborn" IN THE NAME! WE will know its still Reborn, just made better, but it looks better then just keeping it named Reborn. If you have a small description about it, and it refers to the old Reborn, change it. Hell, try this: "As heroes rise from the First Tiberium War, both sides are readying their greatest forces." I know it aint great, but still. The very last thing you want, is to have bad shit said about Reborn when it hasnt even been released yet, and for everyone to say something along the lines of: "Well, UbErNo0b said that R3b0rn is teh sux0rs so i wont play it."
If you reply to this with something that basically makes you sound like a dumbass, Renardn, your an idiot. And a dumbass, because you sound like one.
One more thing to add: SHUT UP AND MOD!
