I've been playing Renegade for only 3 days, and already have seen people switch teams, chat to specific users, donate to specific users, etc. One question - why the hell can't I do that?!?!?!?! And if I can, then how?! Please help me.

Ok, hey.
people can only switch teams if the game is unladdered. You switch by pressing Esc and choosing change team. This button will be disabled in laddered games.
chatting to a specific user: this is called paging in Renegade and to do it you press /page nickname message, so to page me you would type /page flyingfox hey
donating: this can only be done on some servers that are using a mod. to donate you type !donate nickname amount, so to donate me 2000 creidts because you are very generous you would say !donate flyingfox 2000
You gotto have renguard to do !donate.

flyingfox, how do I know if the server is laddered or not. (I'm using GSA, if that helps)

I've got a few more questions: how do you disarm beacons (ion cannon, nukes) and c4 explosives of all kinds (if that's possible).
Also: When I played Renegade on my computer, I remembered that engineers can kill with their repair guns. When playing with NOD online, I've noticed that the technician's repair gun under his picture in the purchase terminal is glowing. Why is it like that? Is it the only repair gun that can kill ya? And if not, then maybe it's because technicians repair faster than regular engineers. Then why isn't Hotwire's repair gun glowing? Plus, whenever I shot with the repair gun beam at a unit, friend or foe, I only fixed it up. How can I inflict damage with this thing, if at all?

The repair gun online works a bit different from the one in Single player.
First of all this is one big advise the Repair gun doesn't damage anyone on line. So don't attack enemies with it. You will only heal your enemy and there is a big chance, people laugh at you when you constantly heal enemies. Luckily you are smart enough to ask before doing so.
About the glowing thing of the Nod Technician. You beat me, I've been playing this game for 3 years and I didn't notice it. It's not really interesting, but hotwire and tech do indeed repair faster than engineers I think.
You can disarm beacons and C4 by attacking them with the repair gun . You will see the health bar of the beacon or c4 become less.
To see if a game is laddered or not, I don't know how the listing of servers works in GSA. But I guess you can see certain information about the server before playing. Also when ingame you can hold the 'L' button to see all the basic server settings like laddered or not.
Size doesn't matter.

The Starting Credits. Let's say the starting credits are 350. Does that mean 350 each, or 350 for the entire team?

Not all server have recomendations, but there are servers where you can recommend people. the command is !rec playername
where playername is of course replaced with the name of the player.
nr 2 what do you mean with this exactly?
If you want to see all voice commands there are 3 options.
hold the ctrl to see all command with ctrl #. Hold alt to see all commands with alt #. And hold alt and ctrl to see all alt + ctrl + # commands.
If you mean how to quiker type a command that isn't a voice commmand. Learn the abbrevations other people user for buildings and vehicles, so the text your typing is smaller and people still understand you.
Ref = refinery
WF = War Factory
Bar = barracks
Hon = Hand of nod
Air = Airstrip
PP = powerplant
So instead of typing something like.
5 flame tanks are coming from the power plant side.
5 flamers inc, PP.
You will learn this in time.
Hope to informed you correctly.
At least this is a lot more fun than trying to recue a computer with a frickin Virus.

OK, a few points here...HT doesn't use RG (RG SSC doesn't play nice with the BR.net HT Custom Edition), so anyone can use !donate in the HazBots. If you are in a RG'ed server and you suspect someone of cheating, use !forcerg <nameofplayer> to force them to use RenGuard. RG=RenGuard...
