OH man, I am having a horrible time. I can barely play renegade anymore. I can join a server and play for a minute or two, then BAM!!! My ping is over 4000. Sometimes it maxes out at 9999. Its random and I dunno why or how its happening! HELP!

ROFL!! sorry to laugh at your expense but I can't even comprehend trying to play with a ping of 9999,,
56k isn't THAT bad, 56k might give you a ping as high as 600 but usually it'll be in the 400s.

Actually, I have a cable modem connection. Laptop is less than a year old and it only started happening after I got home from a trip.
Computer:
Athlon XP3000
512MB RAM
60gig HD
I never had this problem b4 I left, but I came back (no changes of any sort) and it doesn't like me. It is soooo bad! My character moves for me, I dont even have to touch keys. As for ping at 4000+, I can lag kill like you wouldnt believe and nobody even shoots me. Its like Im not even there.
I still cant stand it and I dunno how to fix this problem. Im gonna check again and see if its still as bad. If I dont make another post, the answer is yes and I still need help!

Could this be a problem with renguard? One thing I notice thats different is that when I start up RG, I connect to serv1. Before, I always connected to server 2 or 3. This problem is really bugging me. I cant even play the game anymroe.

I dont think its the server cause it happens with every server. Any other ideas?
