heh, I have to admit the "deal with it" quote seemed a bit unlikely, but it's true.

Full quote:
Quote:

“This is the design that we came up with. There may be people that complain about its usability, but that's something, which users and game software developers will have to adapt to. The button's location is [architectured] on purpose," Kutaragi added. "It's according to specifications. This is something that we've created, and this is our specification. There was a clear purpose to it, and it wasn't a mistake."

"I believe we made the most beautiful thing in the world. Nobody would criticize a renowned architect's blueprint that the position of a gate is wrong. It's the same as that"

It's a pity, considering the price, and the fact that no one likes to buy a new piece of kit that is already nurfed. Oh well.

I also heard that there was an error in the case (in a few cases) when if the psp was twisted in the right way the back opened and the disk goes flying out like a ninja star.

I also heard that the DS is also having it's fair share of problems. It just goes to show that rushing a product in to circulation is never a good idea.

This is typical Sony PR work.

1. Deny the problem and tell people to fuck off.

2. After media coverage, quietly replace or repair units (at no charge after much complaining from customers to the poor tech support rep) via tech support.

3. Announce a product revision to 'enable new functionality' that will not be backwards compatible with many features from earlier product, but launch massive media spin to make it seem like you are the greatest customer service-oriented organization in the world.

4. Put in hands of pop culture icon (p. diddy, paris hilton, etc.) to ensure mass market hype.

5. Sit back on your bags of money and laugh.

6. Repeat as soon as new hardware flaw is discovered.

I mean, this should be no surprise to anyone... they've had problems with every piece of hardware they have launched as a console maker. The PS1 and PS2 both had no less than 10 revisions apiece. I expect the PSP will be probably worse judging by early complaints.

I say screw them. I'm already pissed about the disk read error in the PS2. This just proves that sony can't make hardware for shit.

My Ps2 died after 2 years because the laser weakened, the same thing happened to my next-door-neighbor. Coincadence? I think not.

Your neighbor died because his laser weakened?

My PS2 lasted me 3 years, and than I bought the new one since the older one's laser was "fiddled" with by a friend.

I don't get it. What's wrong with the thing?

Oh, and my PS2 didn't last a damn year. Yah, the reader? It's made of plastic and duck tape.

I managed to fix my laser partially, but the loading times are a tad longer, and some of the disks still don't work.

So they can't be arsed to make it a 1/4" wider and replace the defective units for a minimal fee?

Bastards. I've never really liked sony....

if they recall all the products to fix them its going to cost them a shitload
and the european release is going to be set back even futher

sony fucked up big
this flaw is so obvious it should have been seen and fixed before they started mass producing
many times in the past i have lost buttons on old controllers an been unable to play games.. but atleast i can replace the controllers.. you cannot replace the PSP becuase they are all like it >_<

as for the Ps2... i had to replace my Ps2 after about 7 months becuase it stoped reading DVD's and the normal CD's would not even read music CD's
i got that one replaced.. another 7 months later it done it again.. it would not read DVD's
so i sold it for about 30% of the amount i had actually spent on it including the games controllers memmory cards >_<

with all these screw ups i cant belive sony are still so popular>_<
i have never had a problem with a nintendo console
i have never seen any problems either

I agree i have never, EVER had a Nintendo system screw up. Even my Nes goes strong.

Hell one time about 3 years ago, i was having a "Fit" with my parents and i grabbed a fire log, and started bashing my n64. Didnt even crack the case.

All of their products are top of the line, the only thing that ever wears out is the N64 joystick, so they made that program where you send in your controller, and for only 3 bucks they install one similar to the Gamecube. They never wear out.

thats funny because G4TechTv has a show called X-play and they let this girl go haywire on each console to see which one could take the most beating. The Cube won. And guess what got last? Ps2.

I used to work at an EB, and we used to have fun with old systems from time to time. By fun, what I mean is physical violence on a massive scale. PS2s were the only real casualties of this fun... XBoxes are just too big to fuck with and Cubes are made of space age polymer and souls so they last pretty long.

I imagine the PStwo mini will have some problems soon, a friend of mine just bought one and after only an hour of us using it the damn thing was hot enough to fry eggs on. They really need to work on their engineering teams.
