Are you sure they were all viruses? AV software nails some stuff based on it's behavior, even though it might not be a virus.

There was a time when people were impressed that I have the firepower to decimate a planet in under 10 minutes.

Is that the 2004 version? I read a lot of bad reviews on it after I had ordered the (2004) upgrade from 2002, so I got a refund and just renewed my subscription.

PC formatting rule #1:

ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR NETWORK/INTERNET CABLES UNTIL YOU HAVE ANTIVIRUS AND FIREWALL INSTALLED!

You should also try to get SP1 on a CD and install it before plugging in the cables. Most virii infect your PC during the small period of time between booting up the totally defenseless Windows and installing the protection.

You should get some decent anti-virus, Norton's among the worst out there.

Norton used to be my savior, i loved it, bowed down to it, and trusted it, until i got Nod32, and realised that norton had been letting about 8 virus's run on my computer (daily scans).

Nod32 blocks everything, its fucking great

Ironically, PC Magazine gave NOD32 a bad rating a few months ago. Norton was a good one in their tests.

I dont read pc magazine but I wouldn't be amazed if they gave AOL top ISP of the year award or something stupid like that.

Stick with Norton? Are you fucking insane? Norton's a pile of shit. The only AV utilities worth bothering with are NOD32, Kazpersky, AVG and Symantec.

PC-Cillin isn't all that bad, but I'm currently running AVG until I decide to pay for something else.

well, if you like norton hogging about what, 5 or 6 processes on your computer, just so it can autoupdate, check virus', sit in the system tray, and startup, and then... not catch every virus thats out there, NOT block those annoying "you must install this software" virus', as well as not detect virus' in system restore & dllcache directories, then by all means, use Norton.

i was a Norton System Works Corporate Edition user for the last 4 years, dropped it as soon as i found something that detected virus', and also only has ONE lite weight process.

You do realize Symantec makes Norton, right?

*Sigh* Yes I do. However Symantec and Norton use completely different scanning engines.
