me and my brother registered 2 accounts today so we could vote

^^^ and thats what I'm talking about people who register simply to vote, and wouldn't have done so if it never happened.

Hello?? He said he had a name months ago but it never worked. So what you said is just wrong.

Umm nope. Had he cared enough, he could have simply requested a manual activation. Via mIRC, email, etc.

Okay, this topic doesn't need to become a flamewar over accidental extra votes/registrations. I'll trust crimson to set it back to how it should be, if it is not already that way. I'm also not going to argue about why renegade players who read these forums should or should not have an opinion on this matter...it's not up to me anyway. If any other anomalies within the votes occur, let me know (especially if it seems intentional to you). Oh and, I certainly hope there are two winners here...One person alone would undoubtedly be accused of bias and favoritism.

apparently 3 votes are showing from my i.p.

Me and my sister (plutodevi) are on the same network so that accounts for 2... but the third i have no clue where that came from... so if it is 3 votes from this ip address 1 should probably be taken off

Any you only have 2 posts? LOL you people think we are so dumb.

Just thought I would state that I voted for Dante. There are some others on the list that I would also vote for, but I choose Dante because:

1. He has always shown that he is fair
2. He has vast knowledge of Renegade modding
3. He is respected by many members of the modding community
4. He has shown in the past that he would make a good moderator, with littler tolerance for flaming and other stupid stuff that doesnt belong in this more serious section of these forums.

He has TWO POSTS. My origional statement stands. I say that all votes submitted by new accounts created just today, which are obviously smurf accounts just to pad someones vote...should be discounted Razz

heh, personally I wouldn't mind the vote between jonwil and Dante. Unfortunatly I think it's down to YSLMuffins and Scrumfy (no insult intended to either) simply because of the number of people joining simply to vote, and those wanting to counter said votes.

Fine be that way Razz. I read your post as implying he had 3 posts from the IP. Misinterpretation on my part. But I agree, anyone with an account created today should have their votes discounted.

I say all voters that voted today and registered today should be deleted. If they didnt register yesterday , too damn bad.

Excuse my french but "you're a fucking liar". I just checked the web logs, and guess what? YOUR IP OR EVEN NETWORK HAS *NEVER* BEEN TO THIS WEBSITE UNTIL TODAY

And furthermore, the weblogs also show your referrer url, which means the link you clicked to in order to get here. That referral URL is:

http://ircd2.lomag.net/~wtdragon5/forum/index.php?s=f3ec86f9eb5ce5e6b5af0625054b4690&showtopic=2535

Which is basically a "click here and go vote for Scrumfy" advertisement. Ironically posted by someone else who never comes to these forums. Even as I sit here clicking refresh, scrumfys votes are going up, and guess what the referrer URLS are Razz

213.107.x.x - - [27/Aug/2004:07:08:06 -0500] "GET /viewtopic.php?p=110506 HTTP/1.1" 200 99435 "http://ircd2.lomag.net/~wtdragon5/forum/index.php?s=f3ec86f9eb
5ce5e6b5af0625054b4690&showtopic=2535" "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; FunWebProducts; Hotbar 4.4.6.0; .NET CLR 1.1.4322)"

http://www.n00bstories.com/image.fetch.php?id=1367117244

FFS the whole purpose of voting for someone to fairly moderate the mod forum is that it would be
1. Someone who is a frequent visitor/contributor of the mod forum.
2. The persons voting are also frequent visitors/contributors of the mod forum, or at LEAST members of these forums in general!

The reason for the vote was to find the best person FOR THE JOB...not a damn popularity contest, or to see how many votes someone can spam their way into.

I'm pissed about the way this whole thing has turned out. Crimson of course has final say, but as of right now I'm calling off this "vote". I for one dont want to spend an hour of my time wading through web logs just to find all the duplicate voters and blatant liars like the guy above...and probably no matter who is "chosen" there will be X number of people saying the vote was "unfair". So to hell with it.

The actions of several voters are disgraceful. This was intended to be a democratic vote where the visitors of the forum chose a moderator, but instead you turned it into a popularity contest.

Blazer and I choose YSLMuffins and Dante as the new moderators of the forums. Check your PMs for instructions.
