Ok here's the deal. I'm looking to upgrade my current ASUS something or other to something else.

Currently, I'm looking at this:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1024725&Tab=2&NoMapp=0

Certainly not from that place, but that board. However, I've been getting conflicting reports as to whether I should pick up that Socket 939 now and get a 3500+ to go with it, or to wait for the PCI-E boards and pay exponental amounts of additional funds for something that may, or may not be worth the wait or the money.

Any suggestions?

Well i personally would get a 939 motheboard now. There is no tangible performance increase with PCI-E yet. We are not even saturating the bandwith of AGP 8X, the extra bandwith of PCI-E will not be used for atleast another 2-3 years, by which time your processor will be stoneage.

Just pick up a geforce 6800GT, i get mine tomorrow, they fly.

Sorry Demo, I don't "tweak" that way.

Thanks Dansolo, that's what I thought too.

939 is the standard socket form now on with athlon 64's. The only reason you would get a socket 754 cpu/board is it's little cheaper. Also the socket 939 processors support dual cahnnel ram, socket 754's DO NOT.
