I wonder if the Black Cell people will see the light with you, Scrumfy.

ah how I miss the constant global messaging for no reason, or telling us to listen to the crappy music you guys were playing on your "radio". the fucked up services that would create loopholes when you invited someone into the channel. lets not forget getting banned from #n00bstories repeatedly simply for being me or a friend of mine. and then there's the fact that you couldn't unban yourself or invite yourself into a channel, leaving many of us out of our admin channels. On top of that there's the constant attacks or people threatening to attack, I know for a fact at least 1 of the people that has status in n00bstories has attacked us recently.

no no, I cant say I miss being "part of the community." I dont miss ACK thinking he's God with an intelligence the equivalent of a 5th grader, Crimson acting like she's better than everyone because she put together a really shitty site which is little more than an attempt to soil the names of good players.

Our server are good servers, and yes ACK, they are popular. To the point where it's hard to get in sometimes. If you hate them so much, then stop your fucking whining that you cant play in them anymore. I'm starting to think maybe you weren't a high school drop out, maybe they kicked you out for getting a 400 on your SATs

I love how you all fall back on "OMG your site makes fun of others!" -- it's so old. You ever hear of "America's Funniest Home Videos"? That was half an hour every week of people fucking up on tape. How many videos circulate the internet when someone fucks up? Guess what? It's human nature to laugh at other people's mistakes. It's also human nature to want to vent when someone pisses you off when you're trying to play a game. That's the goal of the site.

Anyone who says "OMG your site makes fun of others" is just trying to make themselves look all high and noble. Why don't you also say:

I help old ladies cross the street!
I volunteer 40 hours a week in a nursing home reading books to the elderly!
I spent 20 hours a week cleaning up trash at the park!

You're no saint.

--

P.S. You build up a site that gets over 100,000 hits per day, then you can call my site "shitty". Until then, shut the fuck up. I don't know where you get this attitude that I think I'm better than everyone. I'm better than you, but that's about it. The bottom line is, you guys sat back and bitched about the mods we did to services but we were never actually approached about it. Was a meeting called to discuss a new solution? No. I heard a couple mentions of frustration about it then all of a sudden you wanted to delink. Good riddance!

Actually you guys seem to think you're gods because you run a couple servers. It doesn't take skill to set up a couple Renegade servers and an IRCd with 20 people on it. It just requires a couple bucks and a couple friends. What you do not have is a community. Hundreds of gamers visiting your website and IRCd daily. That is where skill comes in, and years of experience in building and nurturing online communities. I don't think that I'm better than people overall. But I am in fact a professional web developer. This is what I do for a living. This is what I have spent hundreds of hours researching and playing with. If there's one thing I know, it's websites and online communities. I was doing this for years before I ever started n00bstories.com.

And uh, excuse me, the global messaging was not excessive by ANY definition. I sent a total of 2, maybe 3 messages EVER about the radio (big deal), and other globals in reference to system status. So that when I reconfigured some part of the network and caused a netsplit, you didn't think "OMG something is broken", though several idiots thought something was broken anyway. That's what happens on an IRC network. Globals are sent for network-wide events. Rocket Science? Nope!

The funny thing is that the very people you bitch about are the very people who frequent these forums. How can you miss us if you won't fucking leave?

No, see, as much as you may think everything is about being high and noble, it isn't. So stop trying already.

You're no saint.

No I'm definately not, but I'm at least mature enough to admit when I've made a mistake. Example? You lock yourself out of your own shell, and suddenly is becomes Blazer's fault! Man, I wish I had me a live-in scapegoat, too!

Hmm...That CAN'T be hypocritical at all!

I'm sure you have, however you missed one big lesson in doing so. You're not superwoman, you definately can't fly, and you can't manage "your" entire community all by yourself. As much as you'd like to think it's possible, you still end up playing favorites with that channel of yours. Expansion, you say? That's certainly a good idea...I mean honestly, how much more disorganized can you get?

Hmph... I thought you said you had a community with hundreds of people! Why then, would you need to send a global message begging people to get on your radio? Come now...I see TWO whole users listening, and a max of 13! You're so popular...I wish I was just like you!

Let's see...these are the "Renegade Public Forums" That means I can stay. Also, I did leave your IRC...I mean, what a surprise...I kept pinging out when I tried to connect. And you're also forgetting that I didn't start this topic, and I didn't start this pissing contest. It was the friendly neighborhood asshole yet again...But that's okay. Maybe your 'community' would actually expand if people on your forums weren't constantly bitched at for stating their opinions.

Sorry champ, but you are mistaken. There is no freedom of speech on the internet. You can try and argue it however you want, but there isn't any freedom of speech. Sure, you can type out whatever you want, but there are people who will remove your statements, or remove you from making those statements; thus no freedom.

...That depends on webmasters...

I suck cock and love it... absolutely love it. And I just got banned for being too immature to be allowed to post here.

Uh, what?? I didn't lock myself out of my own shell. I've never been locked out of either of my shells. Blazer found a firewall script and ran it, not me, which locked me out of my dedicated server once. Perhaps you don't know the difference between dedicated server and shell. Blazer sure as shit wouldn't let me blame him publically for shit that was my own fault and I resent the implication that you think he'd let me walk all over him.

 What opers meeting did this take place at? Oh, that's right, none of them except when you told me you were delinking. Various mentions here and there don't constitute an actual complaint. Hell, you even had access to the irc discussion list and you did nothing.

If I thought I could manage the whole community by myself, I wouldn't have other ops and staff, would I? That's what I thought. It's called logic. Don't make wild accusations that you can't back up with facts.

Yes, Scrumfy, you're right. The listeners on the radio is my WHOLE SITE. While you're looking at my website stats, let me point out another one:

n00bstories.com has had 198 visitors in the last 24 hours, and 452 visitors in the last 7 days. A total of 3834 players are registered with n00bstories.com, 6 of which signed up in the last 24 hours.

These stats are pulled for only registered accounts, because you don't have to register or log in to read stories. My web logs show a lot more traffic than even that. Even if you look at the last week, 452 visitors does indeed constitute "hundreds".

The Renegade forums are hosted by n00bstories.com but they are NOT a part of the site. They just co-exist on the same server, and the same person (me) is responsible for both sites. I've seen lumps of Jello with more intelligence than you... if they were the same community, these forums would expand to cover more games (they won't). If they were the same community, then I'd have links back to n00bstories.com on these forums (I don't even put "sponsored by n00bstories.com" on the site even though I could). If they were the same community, I certainly wouldn't have two separate forums, one for n00bstories.com, one for renegadeforums.com. COMMON SENSE is not so common in you.

Untrue. I fully admit I made a mistake linking with a bunch of 15 year olds and thinking they'd be mature enough to handle it. Instead I will run the network alongside adults like foenixz, Blazer, and djlaptop... and Beanyhead and dougfunie who act older than their ages too.

Black-Cell.net admins pay 149 dollars a month for BCServ4, they spend endless hours improving DragonServ, you join their server and waste their 750gb a month bandwidth yet you do NOTHING for the server.

Aren't all 3 of those points all voluntary? They volunteer to pay their cash, the volunteer to help improve, then volunteer their 750 Gigabytes to folks.

Thats the point and why they have the authority to run the server as they please. If it wasn't voluntary (meaning that since it deals with Renegade, an example can be they would be have had to be told by EA to run the server), they would have to abide by the rules of whoever told them to run the server. In this example-case, it would be abiding by the rules EA would set forth about server administration. However because they volunteer the funds to run the server. they can run it the way they want. I'm not saying they run it well, nor am I saying they run it poorly, I'm just saying they have the privilage to run it as they please, for better or for worse.

If you were implying something other than this, then I appologise for ranting like this.

No, you hit the nail on the head warranto.

Don't say I didn't try to get NS IRC more organized Crimson, I told you to hold meeting, to create a list of rules for everyone to follow, to create a simple website for the network, but it never happened, I understand you are busy, but an IRC network is a like a country, if you don't hold it together by communication and laws, it falls apart. And don't say I didn't try to delink peacefully, because I did, but everyone kept on jabbering until the point where Blazer squitted, which pissed me off beyond belif

Sorry crimson, I'm not taking sides here but you NS also has the "abusers" as they are called who go on kicking and banning sprees anytime they wish. You say you run a professional network, then why do you have the abusers still holding power? By no means am I telling you what or how to run your stuff, but that is just a question. You say they have done so much for the community and stuff, but I really dont know what someone like DaveGMM has ever done for the Community of renegade (not n00bstories).

One more thing... You said your site gets 100,000 hits a day? Then why on the topsites list you are no where near that number?

Believe me things are changing. They still hold power, but Crimson has been tightening the leash.

Edit: and I may be wrong here, but as I understand it most if not all "top ten" type site don't work off of hits, but rather votes. And I have to admit, I've never voted... I'm just too lazy...

Yes, thinks are changing. You just have to give it time for them to change and for your perception to change.

The topsites count unique visits to the site, IE, each IP hitting the site = 1 hit on the topsite banner. According to them I get about 500-700 unique visitors per day.

and crimson, in the changes of n00bstories, i hope u to change a bit, because banning someone because u dont know one person and he dont talk is BS, and im sorry to tell this, but if u run for president and u win, i will take a plan and get the hell out because i dont want to be kicked because a president dont know me and because i dont talk, i was there to give support at least for being there in your "community", and i need time to know ppl like all ppl do, but in that time they where some idiots who just wanted o make some abuse of power Confused

Yeah, I'm sure being all pissy about us delinking and not realizing my server isn't dedicated or has the support of two people that work for Cisco isn't immature. You failed to realize I didn't have the resources to shrug off 7 million packets per hour, [sorry I put seconds o_o] and DoS floods attacking me on port 22.

I'm sorry, when did I say you had to be able to shrug off that many packets? Oh wait, I didn't.

I wasn't being "pissy" that you were delinking. I just didn't need you to draw it out for 24 hours while you hung around bashing the network. And if you were leaving because you were unhappy, I sure as shit didn't need you around with powers to /kill, gline, and etc. When you grow up and get a job in the real world, you'll find that when you get fired, you're escorted out the door immediately, you don't get 24 hours to stick around.

I never asked for forgiveness, or will I ever. I'm just stating if everyone took that situation before a lot cooler, this thread would not have been hijacked, or hub would not have been attacked, though I did have a good laugh when I read the n00bstories logs. If you can't see I don't care what you think, I have a perfect social life in high school now. Sure, I did cross the line and I admit it, but I just don't care what you or anyone else thinks, if you want to see oper abuse I recommend you give ACK an o:line..lmfao.
