Youll most likely have to d-load it to play on the server.

Maybe its best, since all the visitors of n00bstories read this topic (i take it you also posted this on the n00bstories forum). We should all look for these cheater while playing... and when spotted report then to n00bstories.
Better still... why not make a temporary page just like the n00bfiles, for these kind of cheat reports? Just an idea.

What about the "damage hack"? I've seen it mentioned on here, and today one of my admins banned someone for using it. While I didn't see it myself, the person he kicked was on 52000 points on Mesa, in a 45 minute game on a 24-player server. He was also apparently blowing up the harvester with a single shot.

I'm stil sceptical though - I thought all weapon/damage data was server-side?

I'm glad it out in the open now, and what Crimson has said are the only cheats I know about.

The guy who made the wallhack was a person who use to play on the same server as me and the clan I was in. He wasn't even a modder as far as I remembered him and it came as a great suprise when he connected to the server and started shouting crap about a wallhack and the URL where you can get it. After investigation by members of our clan we found that he had indeed made a wallhack by hacking a file in the Westwood maps. At this stage the hack was reported to one of the lot over here, Blazer I think. We was hoping originally that there could be a tool built into Blaze Regulate to check for this hack.

Hopefully this can be stopped by what the guys are developing here. Although this news is shocking to a lot of you the amount of perople caught using this hack has been only two on the server I was on about, one being the author, who now has left the Renegade community.

Lets hope we can continue playing as normal.

Takes another bottle of beer out from under the desk. There is a problem though. We have all seen what happens with some servers that run fan maps.
The new map comes up and out of 16+ people there are only 3 or 4 left and it stays that way because most of the lazy fuckwitts didn’t bother to download any of them.

What I'm trying to say is, how are you going to sell this to the larger and some what ignorant community
?

I can make sure that it gets posted on at lease a few of the fansites out there. After that it will just be a domino effect. Smile

Is there any chance of making this an 'official' update to renegade, with it being auto-downloaded when you connect to WOL?

So I was not whining when mentioning how a dude killed six people in seconds with standard infantry?

As most of you guys know, I am a programmer. I am currently collecting information about preventing the wall hack from happening. I have came up with an idea, but that means the FDS needs to be modified in some fashion. I am currently designing some things and collecting information.

Also, I ran tests on the maps XXXXXXXXX is spreading. When I make a CRC32 of the map myself, those are different then the CRC32 of the original maps. So, now I need to write an app that sends the CRC to the server and have the server kick players that haven't sent their CRC value.

can that be done?

Yeah I guess thats what the guys here are trying to make with the program they are working on. The guy who posted that was the person who reported the wallhack to Blazer and the guys over here. There is a guy from Westwood anf Jonathan Wilson working on it so there more than likely to come up with something that will work.

Please do NOT post screen shots or methods of cheating. If you spot a cheater, report it to me in PM and I will pass the information to the server owners forum where we will decide if that person should be banned.

I'd love to see it too. There's definitely something dodgy going on though.

No-one gets a score of over 51000 on Mesa, with 24 players and a 45 minute time limit (he was kicked after 30 anyway). Bear in mind that the next highest score was about 3000. Even if you sat pounding the WF with an artillery for that time, you couldn't make that score.

Sorry about the image and the post Crimson. It was thanks to the clan I was in that it was discovered and reported or this could have been all around the community by now and it almost was. But I hope that the tool you guys are working on will prevent it from being used.

No fear. i've been working on this program(trying to keep it a secret) every since i downloaded the speed hack and saw it worked.

http://www.multec.com/seth/renstopper.jpg

once a cheat is detected it will send a message into renegade warning everyone

It semi-works it just doesnt detect some of the other cheats.

Its client-side so if jsut 1 persn on the server has it everyone cheating will be EXPOSED
Ill keep you posted

Farewell.

I have My own Renegade forums, there are very few ppl on it now, but I am going to post a topic on this there, just a link to this, and maybe some discussion on the cheats, and if we can find who is useing them. And this program, does you game have to be dedicated for it to work, because I want to have this on my com if it isn't for dedicated servers only. BTW here is the links to my forums http://invisionfree.com/forums/Eclipse_Games
