I just find it annoying that he has such a disrespect for other people's work.

Warranto has been training to be a lawyer for quite some time now I believe. If anyone here knows what he's talking about, it's warranto.

Just for claification, I'm not training to be a lawyer... yet. I'm currently only training to be a legal assistant. However, even with that course we still do get a crash lesson on the legal issues in most areas of the law.

That's the term I was searching for. I was going to say "lawyer assistant," but that sounded foolish so i decided to leave it at just lawyer until someone corrected me. Smile

With our recent events that have happened with Dead6, this only aggrevates our members second thinking Aircraftkiller's loyalty to anyone but himself. I can not go against the wishes of my team-mates and try to keep this relationship any longer.

It is with regret that even though APB was a project I led at one point, and strived to help keep alive, I must remove our affiliation with them due to recent events of there leading member.

Retardin you are trying to sue for the use of public domain... Once it is in a public folder you made it public domain.

Have a nice day and lots of lawyers fees.

If it was hidden better, it wouldn't have been as easily found. Hint to this dumbass and the Reborn team: blank index.htm files do absolute wonders to keep people from seeing a folder's content.

I work for a Finance company in Tech Support.
One of the partners of the company have a huge database with practically everybodies personal information (Name, address, DOB, Income, etc..) within the UK & Ireland.
I won't say the company name as I am not allowed to.
But they recently moved from software to web-based.
So all Collectors no longer use software, but the internet to access this onfo.
To be able to withhold this information, they must have a certificate to install on IE. Without the certificate, Access Denied.

Even though all of this information is on the internet, anybody with un-authorized access can be taken to court.

This is a factual metaphor for the data leaked from Reborn forums.
Sure it might not be all the users credit card information.
But things are password and/or permission protected for a reason on the net and they are not for public viewing.

As this is only an image there is pretty much nothing you can do.
However, private data was breached. But I don't know the procedure for that. IMO as this is not an official forum to which has legal rights (i.e. one owned by EA or Nokia for example) there isn't much you can do either.

Andy, but the difference is: They have to have a certificate to access it, which means that they still have some sort of authentication. This isn't true for what happened with Reborn. They didn't even use cookies/certificates or anything else to protect their folder from the preying eyes of the public.

IF this were to ever make it to court, and IF a judgment were to occur in renardin's favor, the mitigating circumstances would be that it was not a protected area, simply hidden. That would have the same effect as the judge laughing at someone who had their car stolen becuase they thought that by leaving it unlocked, it was safe.

I think it'd be more like this: Someone getting their car stolen because they thought that it would be safe by leaving it under a tarp and leaving it unlocked.

Thx for this, so because the car was unlocked... the steal would be legal ? KTHX.

Renardin, don't waste your time. Screenshots will get you nowhere. People can edit images very easily. Digital information is easily forged and is often discarded in legal cases.

No, it's more like hiding a picture of your fat mother under a rock in your front yard, someone finds the picture (guy #1) and takes a picture of it with his cell phone and emails it to a friend (guy #2). The friend laughs at the picture and shows it to some other friends. Then you sue guy #2 for laughing at your fat mom's picture and showing it to his friends.

I'm the bawss.

Whatever the legal definition of it, it's childish and pointless.

fatcat was wrong to access the files in that way.

Aircraftkiller was wrong to post the texture and publicly laugh at it

Renardin was wrong for saying he was going to sue.

I swear, I have never ever seen a "community" like this one.

Right or wrong, you're actions were stupid, and un-neccesary, but then again you don't care, and It's obvious.
