I just CANCELLED all plans for buying Red Alert 3.

As per my previous understanding, being connected to the internet and installing/uninstalling would give an install "credit" back. This would allow for indefinite uninstalls/installs as long as it is done on 1 computer and the limit is within 5 installations.

However, the sheer absurdity of the DRM has been revealed as I just now learned that NO, THERE WILL NOT BE ANY INSTALL/UNINSTALL "CREDITS" whether you are connected to the internet or not.

So plainly: after 5 installs, you are screwed and have to call EA to re-install the game for the 6th time. You will be treated like a little pirate kid by EA Customer Service as you explain to them why you should be allowed to re-install a $60+ game you purchased with your own money for the 6th time.

As a computer and gaming enthusiast, my 2 gaming computers undergo constant changes every alternate weeks and the draconian DRM limits are totally unacceptable.

It's absurd because I initially found the DRM satisfactory based entirely on the uninstallation "credits" scheme. With that removed as well, it kills all my options.

As much as I would love to massproduce squadrons of Soviet Twinblade gunships and fight online, this would be the first ever C&C game I am going to skip entirely without a single bit of remorse. Piracy of any kind is not in my vocabulary.

As a FPS/RTS gamer, I look forward to StarCraft II and in the meantime, I am considering trying out Universe at War (despite it's minor flaws) for a change.

NOTE regarding poll:
Subtract ONE (1) vote from option #1 and add ONE (1) vote to option #3.
