The Ark was found years ago. If they just want to take pictures, they're a little late for that too.

If you had actually read the article, you would have seen this
"In 1957, Turkish air force pilots spotted a boat-shaped formation in Agri province. The government did not pursue the sighting, however. The entire area, including Mount Ararat, was off limits to foreigners because of Soviet complaints that explorers were U.S. spies. "

That dosen't mean it's "Noah's Ark". It could have been any ole' ark.

Wouldn't it have decayed over the thousands if years it would have been sitting there for? :eh:

It wasn't the boat-shaped part that interested them. They found it on top of a mountain, and nobody could explain how it got up there.

Of course, until the site is studied further, nothing can be proved; it may be an elaborate prank like so many other such sites from varying myths(think Loch Ness Monster) and religions.

However, it is pretty interesting to think about, whether you believe in the Bible or not.

Fighter pilots saying they spotted a boat shaped object isn't hard-proof that there is anything there. There are no pictures so it's not "proven" or "found" technically.

And yes, the Ark could be preserved somewhat. Up ontop of a mountain where is is hard for any bacteria to grow with the freezing climate and the fact that there is less oxygen up there means that bacteria wouldn't grow so easily to decay it. Especially seeing as this thing was so large.

Even so, though, if it's been sitting up there for four thousand years, you'd think there wouldn't be too much of it left. Neutral

MrBob

Not Nessecarilly, entire mammoths have been preserved for thousands of years.

Sure, in tar pits and blocks of ice where bacteria can't really get to them.

I'm not saying that none of this is true, I'm just wondering how it can even be possible that a 450-foot-long hunk of wood can still be around after 4000-5000 years. If it turns out to be a wooden ship and possible THE ark, I'd be amazed to find out how it's stayed around for so long, along with the fact that everything in the Bible would be proven true Very Happy.

Can you imagine just what the consequences would be if this is, indeed, the ark? Just about everything in the Bible would be proven true. Shocked

I tend to agree, although I would say it more diplomatically to avoid being flamed Razz

Look, it is well known that the Bible is grounded at least partly in truth. Even a die-hard atheist like myself will tell you there are things in there which, despite being stretched, have happened. However, the Bible is no more or less reliable, to me and many others, in every other way than any other religious document ever produced. One event in it that may have actually happened will not prove to all us "outsiders" that the entire book is 100% factual.

Currently, I'm leaning toward the "it's a hoax" or "it's just a wierd rock" side, since no evidence from elsewhere in the world indicates that there was a flood to that altitude any time during the human race's (relatively)brief existance on this planet.
