Please welcome xC4pRoX as the first n00b busted by our intrusion detection as trying to modify RenGuard to get past it.

I have also busted several n00bs who are saying "Oh I already got past it" and they haven't even used the program yet. Smile

I'm the bawss.

maybe these so called "alarms" were produced since I told spoony why I couldn't log into renegade. He told me to restart it a couple of times, and I must have restarted it at least 30 times within 1 minute?

Does this have anything to do with nicknames? (just curious)

Or you client was altered, which is why it set off that type of alarm. I reset several times in 1 minute and, yet, I'm still a part of the network. You're not. Wonder why....

or maybe since it always disconnected me from the server for having an "unauthorized game2.exe file" even though i had the right one, I tried clicking on the "renegade" button a split second before it disconnected and it crashed it? I don't know shit about your system, and very lil about computers, i'm just giving you suggestions. I just find it funny that a couple of minutes ago i didn't know shit about computers and now i'm a qualified hacker and shit.

this is fucking amazing, I was one of the people that when they heard renguard was out, became happy and thought "yes good job crimson." And now my renegade's fucked up for trying to get it to work. Nice, really nice

Listen, I think this is a bug on your software. Earlier today, when my game crashed, I kept clicking "renegade" on the renguard client to start the game back up. It'll open the renegade image, then an hourglass would come up for a few seconds then nothing. I fixed it by going into the processes and closing the game.exe (I think) anyway I done something like that and got it to work.

Now...c4prox tried to start his up when it crashed, he done it 30 times or whatever, all he seen was the hourglass and nothing.. could this trigger an 'alarm' on your system if multiple attempts are made in a short space of time being unseccuessful in opening the game?

What I think you should do is boot renegade up with renguard, get your game to crash to desktop, then try to start the game up without closing renguard, see how it won't start (maybe depending on your OS, I dunno) and do this multiple times to see if it triggers an alarm.

I ask this because I happen to know prox was playing renegade around this time and he crashed to desktop. I doubt he'd be trying to modify the program while playing.

That's funny... he was in the #renguard_support channel complaining that he couldn't get Renegade to even run... Seems to me he would be trying to modify the program while trying to play.

Yes, complaining he couldn't get it to run "after" he got the crash to desktop (I mightve got the times mixed up), which conflicted his game.exe and couldn't re-run Renegade without closing the game.exe process, closing renguard and starting renguard back up again.

It's a standard error in quite a few games. If your game closes prematurely, or with an alt + F4 command, sometimes your computer won't stop running the game.exe process. Thus, when you try to re-run the game, it won't start because you must close the process with a ctrl + alt + delete task manager, before you can re-run the game.

What I'm wondering is, are multiple unsucessful attempts at starting Renegade with renguard causing the alarm to trigger, i.e. making you think he's trying to start renguard up in a different way?

OMG THANK YOU. I was playing on a n00bstories server for one game, then moved to the CE server. I played a one or two games on the CE server then I crashed. At the time I didn't try to start it back up I just got off and went outside for a while. When I came back It didn't start up, so I went to your IRC channel to get help, but instead I got a ban.

We have detailed intrusion detection. It was not too many attempts, it was an altered exe. I think we resolved this in another thread.

I'm the bawss.
