hey

ive just started using photoshop CS2 to start editing some recitle dds files

im having trouble creating diagonal lnes with straight edges

ive tried using the brush tool to draw a diagonal line, and the drag sqaure option where i then used free transormation to rotate ot from vertical to diagonal. the problem i have is that the edges become very jagged.

this jagged effect is less pronounced when im zoomed out, but its still there and looks stupid

any ideas how i can create diagonal lines with sharp, straight edges as i have seen this done before, im just a noob at photoshop

thanks

You could use the custom shape tool, and use the line tool from there. Hold shift while dragging out a diagonal line and it will be straight.

Alternatively you could use the pencil tool and use the same technique. (hold shift and drag a diagonal line)

i used the custom shape tool and got a diagonla line, but the edges are still jagged

now i think one problem iz the zoom

when im actively editing im at 700% in order to see the recitle bigger and clearer to make editing easier. i think i understand that this will obviously casue some jagged edges correct?

however when i go back to 100%, the edges are still fuzzy/jagged

ive seen some custome recitle's with perfectly straight edged, diagonal lines

what i cant work out is how to get it so they are not jagged

Try using a 2pixel pencil and just drawing dot by bot in a diagonal line.

*bump*

new problem:

when i try to copy and paste from RGB to the Alpha channel, it only copies a portion of my full design.

im pretty sure this is beacuse in the RGB channel, whenver i add in a new part to my design it creates a different layer and it wont let me copy/paste all layers as one into the alpha channel

so i think what im aksing is how to make it so it wont keep creating new layers, so i can just work on one

thanks

Merge all the layers together?
Flatten the image. Select all of your layers in RGB channel and press ctrl + e.

And for successfully putting it on alpha channel don't copy and paste. ctrl + click the thumbnail in the layers pane of your rgb channel, this selects the path. then switch to alpha and get out a white brush or fill tool, and fill the path.
