So I was considering buying one of these for surfing the internet, and watching videos on the internet. That is all I plan to do with it besides maybe listen to music. If I were to get the cheapest laptop it would be $400 and have only a 4GB HDD compared to the touches 8 or 16GB's.
So I am asking the people who have one, how is it? Is surfing the internet a pain in the ass, with the understanding of a no mouse interface.
I just want something to surf the net and so I do not have to come to my computer and turn it on every time I want to see what you guys are up too. 
So to sum this all up.
Does the iPod touch suck at surfing the internet or not?

I've toyed around with one for five minutes, and it wasn't too hard.
You might be happier with a Pocket PC though. Many have expandable memory, and you can do more with them, like write down notes quickly, use GPS, and play lots of games, and of course, browse the internet using Wireless Internet.

Depends a bit on model.
I know that here you can get the HTC Touch for around 300 euros incl. taxes (19% tax on it sox)

Since what you're considering getting is basicly what i've got, (minus phone), it's a good thing to browse the web with.
Some things to note though...
Safari crashes, ALOT, try to look at any high def pictures while scrolling and it'll freeze, then crash back to the home page.
Safari doesn't support flash, full stop, so flash games, music streams, music playback etc, are not possible yet.
Even though you loose a 'right click', the features of it are pretty cool. You can pinch to zoom in to small text or double tab to enlarge to a specific area, and it's quite clever as it enlarges font sizes of what is important, compared to what isn't, IE: Forum messages are alot larger font size than the names of the person who posted them.
Youtube on the other hand, besides being slow at the start while it loads the video image previews etc, it's pretty good.
It waits until you have a reasonable amount of stream before commencing playback, and then you can watch the whole thing.
Some of the bad parts of Youtube.app are:
The title text is 'cut', so you only get to see a few words and not the whole title, which means you have to guess alot at what it is.
You can't search for "more videos from this user", unfortunatly, however you can bookmark videos into its own little tab and search for more things like said video.
All in all, if you're wanting it to browse the web, and Youtube, an music etc, it's a good buy, however, unstable. Just wait until the SDK is released and see if many of these things are patched.
