I didn't have a console back then, but my friends did so I got to see the games plenty. I always liked Donkey Kong Country etc, because it had cool music and it seemed like there was more things going on, like cannons that shoot you around etc, whereas with Mario it seemed more boring doing the same stuff all the time.

I had a sega megadrive 2, there was 2 games i likes. Sonic the Heghog and Age of Steel.

I still think Super Mario World is one of the best sidescrollers of all time.
Donkey Kong Country is good too but SMW is better IMO.
