Dell is you're friend!

Presence is a curious thing, if you think you need to prove it... you probably never had it in the first place.

I'd stay far far away from Dell... but others may disagree with me.

Why want a 3.0GHz CPU when about any Core 2 duo will outperform it even in single threaded tasks?

And I would go on 1 gig RAM Smile there are not many laptops with 1.5 gig RAM..

When people ask me "Plz" just because it's shorter than "Please" I feel perfectly justified to answer "No" because it's shorter then "Yes"

Yeah, i learnt the hard way a few years back. XP was still in its SP1 form and i tried to give it 4gb RAM and it just went haywire, untill it shut down. So i removed a stick and it was working fine...

Don't know about Vista although i hope it can take more.

There's a four gigabyte limit on RAM in WinXP -- physical and virtual.

See here.

Well, that's bad news. I thought about the possibility of using 4 gigs of ram in my next computer and still run XP. Guess I'd still have to stick with 2GB.

You'd like my acer 5684WLMi.

Core duo T5600, Nvidia Go 7600 256 MB Vram, 2 gig RAM

You cannot buy 4 gig laptops yet: 2 gig laptop RAM is just too expensive atm.

I haven't been dissapointed by Acer laptops yet and they're quite cheap compared to other brands.

I'm using an Acer laptop and it's not quite bad.
I like their desktop better though.

I got a good deal at dell about 6 months ago...you need to find when they have a special offer for 300$ off and free shipping.

I paid 1200$ US with free shipping for a T7200 core 2 duo,2 gigs of ram, and a 7900 gs..I skimped on the HD (80gig) and got an external..also got a wireless N card.

Im sure you could get something pretty close for the same price now, maybe even cheaper.

Also you better hurry, startingg in a few months all Dell will carry is Vista, they are phasing out XP.
