I don't see why people are buying these E66's when the E63 can easily be overclocked to the performance for a 6600 without any problems whatsoever.

It can reach the performance of an E6600 at stock, but not overclocked. The multiplier on the E6300 is too low. It has more cache too but I'm not quite sure how much that impacts performance with Intels. I know it doesn't matter very much at all with AMDs, but it could be quite different for Intels.

Intel is releasing new cores soon(if they haven't already) that will only use 2MB and are supposed to overclock really well. The Allendale core is an updated conroe that is cheaper to manufacture. The E4300 is supposed to be around $160-170 and get to 3Ghz on stock voltage(stock speed is 1.8Ghz).

The E2000 series will have 1MB cache and is supposed to be < $100. I would imagine these will replace the celerons.

To be honest Renx is near enough right.
People can't afford these top end graphics cards and Intel Dual core PentiumD and these Dual core2, some of these can sit you back £200-300, which i certainly wouldn't pay, if your looking for a new CPU i'd advice a PentiumD 2.8Ghz Dual core, but again this wouldn't even compare to a dual 2 core at 1.88ghz, The pentium D is a huge over clocker, this can be overclocked to around 4.2Ghz @ stable Blush , now thats a nice CPU, but then again overclocking isn't as good as some people think, yes better performance and so on, more FPS on renegade, but depending on how much your overclocking you system depends on how long it's going to live for Rocked Over

A 2Ghz Core2 would beat a 4Ghz P4 hands down. The best bang for your buck CPU is probably the E6600 right now, and I'm pretty sure Intel is dropping prices on CPUs up to 40% soon too.

Yeh the intel core2 will be dropping mad at around fed time as the AMD core2 is coming out thats why intel have put the quad core on the shelf
I think they have already realesed the 2mb cache might even have the 4mb out and i'm quite sure they are

still i have a p4 2.66 and it does me fine, was going to consider a pentiumD but choose not to

I just bought an Intel Pentium D 945 3.4GHz for $167 USD off of Newegg. Sucks to be British, huh?

It's not true quad-core though. It's only two dual-cores in one CPU.

It wouldn't suprise me if Intel bring out a NoviceCORE, or something stupid, whats next after the quad core. The prices for some stuff on the internet is incredible. i wouldn't pay it i'll be waiting untill february for the AMD core2 to come out then the Intel will drop in price Big Ups
