I have a ok computer, everything in it is 5 or so years old. I only need it to play renegade and Half Life(the first one). The memory, video card, and all that is maxed out!

I want to get the best processor it can have because I figure it will be cheep!

Motherboard is "k7t266 Pro. 2 Ver: 2.0"

So whats the absolute best processor I can get for it?

I dont know what the current processor is but I know its not the best it can have. Tell Me

I'm not 100% sure but "K7t266" makes me think it can only support up to a K7(XP3200 would be the best I think, and those aren't even in production anymore), and 266mhz(PC2100?) RAM. If you want anything even remotely up to date you should probably just get an entirely new computer.

you could at max get yourselfs a AMD Athlon 2400+, but it will be second handed then. I don't know what proc you have now, but I dont expect it to be a good upgrade.
You could think about an AM2 Athlon 64 and a cheap motherboard and ram, will set you back like 150-200dollar I guess.
