I don't mind goatse being banned(Even though up to 10 years in jail is ridiculous, and I have no idea how it is going to be enforced.)

And I am 16 too(Well, about to be 17) and I think the U.S. Government sucks! (But I can't say it's the worst)

Our freedoms are either becomming infringed, lost or altered. One after another.

...It just bothers me that so much stuff is done right under our noses.

..And this.. this just pisses me off.

A little while ago a minimum wage bill that would've increased minimum wage from $5.15 an hour to $7.25 an hour was denied by the senate, and they claim that it would be too big of an increase and many people would lose their jobs... Well, The Senate has rejected 11 attempts to raise the minimum wage since 1998.

(Alot of people that are poor and are already in debt, can't raise a friggin family on 5 to 6 dollars an hour)

Minimum wage is a bad idea to begin with. Employers can't afford to pay some grease monkey at a McDonalds $7.25 for tossing french fries into a basket eight hours a day. Wages increase as skills and knowledge increase. When you make yourself worth more, you earn more.

It's already hard enough to find a job in Florida as it stands, since the state's minimum wage rate is $6.40 per hour.

You're 16, and you have no knowledge of even basic economic processes. That's to be expected, though.

See, minimum wage sounds good, but looking beyond the short term benefits, you'll see nothing but negative.

Think about this: You're a company. You've maximized profits and production. All of a sudden, you're now being forced to pay your workers even more money per hour. This greatly affects your profits. In order to keep profits up and keep from having a deficit, you're now going to have to charge more money per good/service because now it costs more to produce that good/service (thanks to higher wages being paid out).

Imagine this happening to ALL companies (which it would). Prices for everything have now jumped. What good has raising minimum wages done? It just forced prices to jump, and now we're back to status quo.

Not only does that just cancel out the raising of minimum wage, but now it weakens our currency. Instead of taking $.50 to purchase a candy bar, it now costs $.75. Where $1 used to buy you 2 candy bars, it can now only buy you 1. Therefore, the value of a dollar has decreased. This hurts us with trade. The USD is weaker than the GBP and the EUR.

What good has minimum wage ultimately done? Sure, it gives people a short-term advantage of being able to buy/save more, but what happens down the road?

Oh, to add to my previous post.

On too many jobs being lost... it's true. Like I said, it would cost more to produce the good/service.

You're not only paying more for wages, but the resources that you purchase from other companies to create your good now costs more because of raised prices (thanks to higher wages). That hits you two ways. In order to maximize profits, downsizing the company due to issues like this is bound to happen. You can only raise the prices so much and have people buy so much of it. The simple law of Supply and Demand controls that aspect. Once you maximize your profits according to Supply and Demand, you have to cut costs. How do you cut costs? Get rid of what isn't necessary any more. Now that demand has lowered because of higher prices, companies don't need to produce as much. You need to minimize losses, and if you can't produce as much, you don't need as much labor to produce less of your good/service. Jobs are then cut.

Our prices pretty much doubled since the introduction of the euro. Let me tell you people weren't too happy to find out everything is double the price from one day to another. Oh and don't think our wages doubled too... But $5 an hour... That's even less then people on welfair get in Holland for sitting at home.
