Every 14 year old with a computer now "owns their own hosting company" or "runs a TeamSpeak server" or something to that effect.

I think that's more or less his point.

all are never populated Smile

Why waste your time? And presumably money?

Luckily, the gaming 'network' I started over 2 years ago isn't something I'd class as a waste of time as it's something that's turning out to be worthwhile.

You know what, you are right, almost every kid I know around my age that has a computer has some sort of server for something. And most of them have no point to them. Including me, I have many servers, but atleast mine have uses. Just posting in a forum at random that you have a Teamspeak server isn't going to bring people to it. One, because they don't know you. Two, they either already visit a Teamspeak server they don't plan on leaving, or already run their own. And as that article said, when creating a network, it does need to be something unique. For example, if you created a forum for Renegade, no one would visit it. Why? Because it isn't unique, and Renegade Forums has already sucked in alot of people. (By sucked in I mean that many poeple I know find Renegade Forums addicting...lol.)

I do however give you a good luck wish on making your "network" a success. If it is something you really want to do, and keep doing, go for it. But it takes a long time for a community or network get up on it's feet.

Almost every faggot in MP makes free forums, and has a TeamSpeak with a peak of 2 users.

Oh and another popular thing (MP inlcuded) is to buy the domain <shitty-online-nick>-gaming.com and start a network (with free forums and a teamspeak server).

Mark, I wouldn't say that. They may actually think you're being serious.

PackHunter, I completely agree with Mindtzar, so does that make me frustrated that I don't have my own server? If so, that can't really be true, seeing as I own my own server...

I used to host IRC and TS, I did it mostly for the challenge, to see how it could be done etc. and it's good practice. I wouldn't discourage someone from trying.

(Admitedly a TS server is easier to do than IRC, but still it's not a bad start)

I had a few websites awhile back, but they were either for one single purpose, or deleted. Usually that one single purpose was to host a picture that didn't want to go somewhere I wanted it too.

o.O Shouldn't hidden messages be forbidden? Anyways... see that little smiley thingy behind my post? Usually it means that somebody isn't serious. But heck, for the sake of argument I am willing to say you are frustrated anyway.

Not always, and if you know the kind of people on these forums, you'd understand why it doesn't always mean that you're not being serious. Wink

They would only be against the rules if the actual message itself infringed upon the rules.

Not to mention they're NOT really hidden messages. They're just hidden to the current theme. Smile

Change your theme to FUD Forum's default, and you'll see my "hidden" text clear as day.
