Well, duh. On shipping to the UK, we get an extra 17.5% added, as well as import duty and whatever costs that Customs and Excise feel slapping on it.

If I lived in the US, and was free from such draconian charges, it would cost me only $299

ATI's website. I get a 40% discount.

I dont know what your smoking, but your not going to find a x800 xt for 299.99.

I checked ati's website, thier is no 40% discount. As for the extras taxes whatever, the "what if" "I should have, could have" blah blah..., the fact of the matter is that thier is no way in Hell your getting a x800 xt for 299 US.

If you can tell me exactly where to get it with the link I"ll order 10 right now. If not then your obviously just mucking around...

X800 XT PE = $499
60% of $499 = $299.4

Registered developers on ATI's developer program get a 40% discount on ATI hardware.

As soon as my order arrives (16 X800s), I'll take a photo for you.

wow that makes a lot of sense, go around telling people a price that only developers can get

Ya if I was the owner of ATI I could get x800 for free, so let me go in forums and post how the cost of the card is free

I'll give you 8,000 shiny pennies for one. It's win-win!

I wasn't saying "hey, ATI are selling these cards for 40% off!". I was just saying the price I can get them for.

Damn your lucky. I'd love to get an X800 XT PE for $300.

Given that I can XT PEs for less than a Pro, I'll stick with the XT, thanks.

if you get a 40% discount, then x800 pro would cost 239 (based off 399 retail)

Then you also said:

Get a X800 pro VIVO card. Its the same card has the XT PE. ALl you need to do is download the gigabyte bios and flash it. Violla its now a X800 XT card.

For 450 its the best card for the money.

Quote:

Except it doesn't work on all cards, and it still doesn't give you the extra texture pipelines that the XT has.

WRONG, works on all x800 pro vivo cards

In conclusion X800 pro VIVO is the best card to buy for the money, its retail is 450, so even developers can get the card for 270.

I'm sure your going to reply with some sily thing claiming how developers can only buy XT cards

Nope, any ATI card is available. I'd just rather have the "legit" XT. It's not me that's shelling out for them anyway, so I really don't mind Smile

lol "legit" ehh, how are x800 pro vivos to x800 xt not "legit" this is isn't warez you know, you can't download hacked versions.

if your silly enough to blindly spend more money when manufactures are purposely crippling hardware simply to create a mid-range market then go right ahead and pay MORE for an x800 XT that has LESS features then a x800 pro VIVO to x800 XT speed/core. *the XT PE does not have a vivo function* Razz

I meant "legit" as in "sold as an X800 XT and doesn't require any hacking to be one". Maybe the wrong choice of word, but nothing to get out of your pram over.

Personally, I don't care about VIVO. I have no use for it.

Also - http://www.ati.com/buy/pricespcusa.html

I don't see an X800 Pro VIVO there. The discount only applies to hardware purchased direct from ATI, not third-party OEMs.

I called ATI on the phone they said they never heard of the developer registered program and a 40% discount, they said they ship cards out to most developers for free  same for review sites.
Regardless the ATI page isn't up to date, but the also have an official FIRST PARTY x800 pro VIVO and these 3rd party x800 pro vivos are based of the offcial core:

Thats the retail x800 pro VIVO from sapphire,
Thier are retail models availible for gigabyte, power color, club3d and more.

btw the gigabyte x800 pro vivo ships with 16 pipes unlocked running at xt speeds. Looks like the manufacturer "pre-hacked" it for you

http://apps.ati.com/developers/devform1.asp

special discounts on currently shipping products (NTSC only)

You're really going to some lengths to try to prove me wrong, aren't you?

Large developers get cards for free. Us small startups have to make do with a discount.

I don't get a discount on 3rd-party hardware.
